Newest addition to the garage, purchased from the family of Dean Weller in Desoto Kansas. I have wanted this car since I first saw it years ago in Dean's shop.
That looks like a whole lot of fun to put around in and maybe even do a speedster or Model A road trip cruise.
Kiwi Quick Change being installed this week with a reversed eye Model T rear spring to drop it a bit. Hydraulic brakes going on after that once my Model A dropped axle arrives. This car is a blast to drive.
I have grown accustomed to several projects going at a time, the V12 is definitely my favorite though.
I am changing a few things. All of these parts are from Hambers Front and rear bumpers are gone. The stone guard is up for sale as are the 16" wire wheels. I purchased some Kelsey Hayes wires that I will mount the white walls on. The Kiwi Quickchange is being finished, with a new Millworks rear spring waiting to install. 4" Model A dropped axle being powder coated. New Lincoln hydraulic backing plates being powder coated. Might be adding some E&J Type 20 headlights if a deal can be made. Original 65 lb flywheel is out and a 27 lb one installed with a V8 clutch. Klings transmission adapter installed, waiting on a nice rebuilt 39 transmission. Debating on running the side mount tires or taking them off.
Quickchange done and mocked up after trying to get the ride height set. Kelsey Hayes wires powder painted and installed. 39 transmission cleaned, painted and rebuilt (having rebuilt and sold over 50 of these I put the Clings clutch shaft in on the wrong side). Lightened flywheel installed with new clutch and pressure plate. Clings transmission adapter installed, driveshaft shortened and resplined, waiting on a few small parts to install the transmission after reinstalling the clutch shaft. Should be ready for cars and coffee on the 29th of October at Speedway Motors.
Quickchange and 39 transmission installed along with a F100 steering and hydraulic brakes all around. Hallock arrived from Obrien and getting ready for install along with a 34 Packard dash.
A really nice collection of parts, looking forward to seeing this come together. Kiwi Quick-change are now known as Pacific QC - now in Aus - Incase you ever need to chase them.
Opinions are like, well we all know that. My $.02 would be to ditch the sidemounts (unless you swap for deluxe fenders) and if you are going to change the headlights drum would look much better than what you are thinking. the OHV is a wonderful addition, I can't think of how many "speedsters" are running around on a stock (maybe higher comp) flathead. As far as the windshield I would leave it as is considering it folds down and mount a brooklands racing windscreen behind.
