I am building a Dodge 1940 Special and installing an early small block hemi. Has anyone here done that and has advice on what to look for?

That's a help. Did you have any length or height problems? How about steering clearance? I am thinking of junking the factory slug and installing MII R&P steering. Wil a stock starter motor work or does it need a mini?

I cant talk about the front suspension here but it has been changed. You will probably have to offset it to the p***enger side to clear the stock box. I recessed the firewall 4 inches but the radiator can be mounted forward of the radiator support to gain you a couple of inches.

I put a 276 DeSoto in a 49 and had to make inner Fender Wells and I fabbed a new firewall just because. Used stock ram horn like exhaust manifolds. Upgraded to a Cavalier rack and pinion and modified the stock steering arms to work. I'll try and find some pictures

I was considering the front end you probably used but study convinced me a refreshed stock IFS with shock relocation is just as good. I plan on installing a rack and pinion gear and 80s GM tilt column so that hopefully gives the room needed on the driver's side.

Properly maintained, and a set of Bilstiens, that original front end works just fine.
