Ok guys, where is the best place to get new window seals and all other gl*** related items for my 41 fordor? I need a couple rear windows too as they are delaminating and look like cobwebs in the gl***. Thankfully the rear window was taken out by my brother close to 20 years ago to keep it safe, he told me those are hard to get but all the other gl*** is pretty easy. But then again when he was looking into it, it was close to 20 years ago lmao so not sure if any of that is still valid. But I do have that back window wrapped up in a moving blanket and in a box all taped up. So I will need some rear door gl***, the rear quarters and all new seals and the other pieces I'm not sure what they're called, like fabric it looks like. Wing window seals too. Also the rubber wipers? The part on the door the gl*** slides against. I see Macs has some but thought I'd reach out on here to see if there's other options. Thanks! Ps I know I sound stupid but I'm learning, body related stuff I'm a total virgin.
Look up Auto City Cl***ic on eBay. I bought from them. I believe they might have some seals. But you also try Dennis Carpenter for some and Rubber the right way for some they might not have in stock. https://www.ebay.com/str/autocitycl***ic
Steer clear of Mac's. I was reading on here that they seem to be going under. Also the shipping is killer.
Google 1941 Ford gl*** run channels, window fuzzies, door seals, window rubber… that should get you to multiple options/vendors and pictures. dennis carpenter, Bob Drake, Vintique and others should come up.
for the rubber check out Rock Auto for the best price or CW Moss https://cwmoss.com/collections/v8. As far as the gl*** I would sujest gl*** shop or a vintage recking yard.
I whole-heartedly agree. I had to replace everything you've mentioned on my '41 Merc. with the added difficulty of dealing with a radical chop,. The lady I spoke with at Steele was extremely helpful; suggesting rubber for the quarter windows which was the proper extrusion but not pre-formed to the stock window shape. That way I could cut to the proper length and form my own to fit. Long story to underline a great product and service!! Good luck on your project! -Dave
Read the fine print on Steele's stuff, some of it is made by them and some is out sourced. If it's something they made it's first cl***, but you might be getting someone else's rubber products (Macs, Vintique, Carpenter...) for the Steele price. I bought my rubber for the '41 p/u at Carpenter as they make their own. "Are your parts actually made in America? Yes, the majority of our parts are made right here in Denver, NC. We do have vendors that we outsource a few parts from that get some of their products from overseas. We do inspect these parts and make sure they meet the quality and standards that we have for our own American Made parts."
Drake or Carpenter. I like Dennis Carpenter cuz I'm closer for cheaper freight, but you're closer to Drake. Both good stuff and thorough descriptions. Fair pricing too. I have noticed Drake has been out of stock on some stuff lately and I won't even try to recall what it was. Both have full kits for channel, door/mldg fuzzies and more. What you save on Carpenter you might spend in shipping. Macs? Do a search. I can't add anything worse about em than has already been said. Check out fordbarn for input too.
Check with these folks down in Springfield... they did all the gl*** for my 40 Fordor. Had it within a week and was very happy with the fit when I installed it. Everything fit nicely using Drake rubber. https://autogl***ics.com/
Metro molded rubber is another manufacturer I've dealt with for all the rubber on my 39 so far. For the window channels and 'fuzzies' go to CR Laurence Co. They have all that stuff listed and that's where I bought all my flex channel and door hardware for the windows. Also check out the gl*** shops - I've had good luck talking to the older guys who know where to find stuff. While you're in the doors, talk to a locksmith and ask for a can of LokShot lube - it makes the old hardware work like brand new!
www.Bobscl***icautogl***.com in Blachley Oregon, He is also a Steele dealer and sells it cheaper than Steele. Dave
I looked him up a year or two ago and there were a lot of bad reviews. When I get close to needing gl*** I'll give him a call but I won't prepay or order on eBay.
I ordered gl*** from Bob for my '32 4dr yesterday plus a windshield for my '31 roadster pickup and 3 windshields for my Dodge Brothers roadsters. The Dodge ones he will cut from my patterns while I wait! I've had nothing but great service and super pricing from Bob. I don't order online either, just by phone. Dave
