Literally says nothing to be proud of on the post.... Lol.

But hey, I ain't ashamed. Wouldn't change a thing, lived a hell of a life. Was gettin paid to play a guitar, see the world, and living a life most people dream about while sitting in their small town with a thumb in their butt. So there's that....

1948 homecoming parade on the circular track at the Los Angeles Coliseum floor, surrounding the football field.

    Hello,

Around this time, our dad started taking the whole family to the Los Angeles Coliseum to see the ever popular college football games from the local universities. He did not like listening to or watching the professional football games on the small radio. But for the local Los Angeles college football teams, he listened to everyone that popped up in the radio. No TV at the time. This time, the university was located just across the street, USC.

Note: Later on in 1966-75, my wife and I went to many concerts at the Shrine Auditorium, as it was located next to the university campus.

Our mom liked going at first, because she did not have to prepared a huge lunch for the family. Our dad always took us early, so we could have a nice Frenched Dipped, Roast Beef Sandwich at the world’s famous Phillippe’s Restaurant nearby. Eventually, she quit going as she knew nothing about the game. She found out it was nice to be at home by herself without the rambunctious boys running around highly motivated in their play.

I remember sitting on the grass area in front of the arched East end of the football stadium until it was time to walk to the entry gates. The whole outdoor stadium was so impressive. It was huge and the seating surrounded the whole football field, including the arched end of the old stadium. Our dad had come to the stadium during his college days to watch the Olympic events there and the nearby water sporting events in 1932.

Over the years, we have attended different events in the Coliseum. From the original Dodgers games on the Western end of the football field to the 90-100k people flocking to the championships football games in its heydays. Even the early Motocross days with the riders looking like ants. But on college game days, the colors of blue and yellow versus the red cardinal and gold instantly made the college rivalry evident. The photo depicts the USC homecoming queen and court.

The best seats in the whole stadium? In the middle rows around the 30 yard line, right below the press box seen in the right top of the photo. Why? Well the colleges are usually across the way and the card stunts are fun. But, that side of the stadium is always in the hot sun and uncomfortable. The press box side stays in the sun toward the afternoon and then goes into the shade for comfortable viewing. The end zone seats are, well, end zone seats and not worth spending time trying to watch a football game. YRMV
