No Clocks? -- Probably just as well for insurance purposes.

Lack of safety equipment with many entries capable of over 100.

I think it was only 1/8 mile, I kinda doubt anybody exceeded 100.

Not sure. There was an old late '60's/early 70's gasser named Bonnie & Clyde. Running a seriously healthy BBC. If it was a 1/4 mile, he'd be running in the 10's no doubt. He was haulin' ass all day.

Some of those rails were hustlin' too. That Run Runner rail definitely hit 100+

What was so awesome about the event was that everyone ran hard. No one went easy when it came time for brackets.

It was a totally bitchin' event. So glad I was able to make it.

Nice shots. If they keep doing events there I think that my wife is up to a road trip to Riverside. We went on a Trog Flabob video binge yesterday.

A lot of the spectators that were at the last one may have been in the been there done that catagory this time. Plus what other car events were going on in the area that drew people. It may have just been the timing of when the photos and videos were taken too as they ran for several hours and for alot of spectators once you see the whole group of cars go around twice it is time to head somewhere else even if somewhere else is walking around looking at cars as the cars were real spread out there from what I saw in the videos.

Time slips or speed has never been a deal at Trog events, Beating the guy you are running against at the time is the whole of it.

I think this was the winner of the OHV final.

Great pics. The black, full fendered A sport coupe is probably my favorite, that or the light blue early T RPU with the screamin' blue front axle. Lots of great stuff to see here though.

That Sport Coupe was rad. I talked to the owner. Right out of the little pages in '62. That body was never off the frame. The previous owners painted it without doing any body work. It's laser straight.

He bought it from the brothers who built it. Really neat story. Current owner lives in WA. I believe. I wish I got his contact information. Really nice guy. He ran it hard and the car did well.

Yes, those! Speedway has them for Nailhead, maybe these are the same, but adapted.

  17. Each picture better than the last. I like that 15 rpu. I noticed some liscence plates, were some of these cars driven to the track?

Alright, let's finish up these photos this morning.

@mctim64 on the return road, it was a good day....

This was the end of the first run for the OHV Final, before the race was done the announcer was already saying they were going to re-run it, the T RPU must've jumped the flag I'm assuming, I couldn't see it from where I was, but he just got to the finish just ahead of the #471 green 32 roadster (Hot Head Lou).

    DSC_8637.JPG DSC_8638.JPG DSC_8640.JPG DSC_8642.JPG DSC_8648.JPG DSC_8649.JPG

There were two green 32 roadsters there, both sporting blown SBC's, one was #471, and this one was #174. Cute. Both are gorgeous cars, and they were both fast, but it was #471 that advanced to the OHV final.
    DSC_8652.JPG DSC_8654.JPG

#471 on the return road, Lou looks a little perturbed. But he'll have another go at the final.
    DSC_8655.JPG DSC_8659.JPG

And here they are, the first one in sight is the T...
    DSC_8673.JPG

And there's the 471 car a good 3 car length's back. I didn't see the start, but they didn't call for a rematch so I assume the T driver didn't jump the flag this time and won it fair and square.
    DSC_8674.JPG DSC_8675.JPG

And there's your OHV winner for the day. Not the prettiest car out there, but I like it. Just a SBC w/ dual quads as far as I can tell, didn't sound especially hot (no Thumper cam...), no huffer. But it sure did run good.
    DSC_8678.JPG DSC_8680.JPG

And that's it for photos. I do have some video clips taken with my phone, but I'm not sure the quality is very good. If they're worth posting I'll load them on the tube and link them here.

Great action pics! The light blue T looks like it received that custom bodywork and paint job a LONG time ago, very cool.

Man my car is a dog, I'm beating absolutely nobody in a race, but I'd still like to have a Pic of me running down the strip!

That Green T, the "HaifT", belongs to Doug Haifley of the Haifley Bros. He was racing his Green 32 Roadster with the Cactus Art on the grill. The engine is a Pontiac and those are indeed Nailhead wire loom covers.

Thanks for the info. I talked to him about his roadster, it's very sweet and runs real good.

That's cool, both the flathead V8 and OHV V8 classes the winner in the finals was naturally aspirated winning over a blown engine.

I'm curious, why does everyone remove their headlights to run down the track? Make 'em that much faster? ;)
