i started to replace my timing chain cover gasket set on my '62 pontiac tempest 195 cu in. slant 4 clylinder engine. when i went to change out the cork gasket for the crankshaft where the oil was mainly leaking from there is a metal race behind it that has kind of like a flexable wave washer that you can push on and open and close. the guy at checker said that i need to replace it cause it should not depress as easily as it does. it does return to the highest position after depressing. i asked if he carried that part and kind of laughed which i did to as i asked. he says maybe napa or carquest. do you know of the part i am in search of. it slides on the end of the crank and has a slot for the key weight in it. any help is appreciated

That spring loaded piece used to come in gasket sets years ago; I probably still have one lying around somewhere, if you can't find one.
