Bought a 1955 OLD SCHOOL GMC pickup today. Been sitting in the old garage for 40 years. Has a 283 out of an early 60 Corvette. Was pushed in the old garage after someone stole the manifold and carb. enine has less than 10,000 miles on rebuild. I know the guy who rebuilt it. Not sure Yet what I'am going to do with it. Also bought a Really Nice untouched original 34 Chevrolet pickup at a different location that I'am really excited about. Pretty sure it will run with gas and a battery and a little fiddling. Was so excited I forgot to take any pictures. I will when I pick it up. Its
I love that GMC pickup . . . can you move it to my garage . . . like fast! Heck, I figure you'll have your hands full with the 34 Chevy pickup (my first car was a 35 Chevy pickup), so you might as well sell me the GMC! LOL
Looks like a solid truck, how's the underside Are you keeping the flames ? Appear to have been airbrushed over the existing paint and may come off.
He was probably thinking he didn’t want to loose the hood or hit someone changing lanes. Cool trucks, love all the GMC chrome!
Questions Answered! On the hood It comes with a really nice 2nd hood. And the mirrors have gotta GO! Hate them. Yesterday I found a untouched original 38 Studebaker Commander sitting in a garage since the 60s. 34 pictures will be coming when I pick it up in a couple of weeks. Its 600 miles away in Northeast Montana.
Cool find! Front end looks to be lowered but it's hard to tell by the angles of the pictures. Be weary of how it was done as I still see 6 lug wheels so it probably still has the solid front axle. There's not a lot suspension travel and if they took out a lot of leafs or heated things up be on the look out. Truck must have been fast given the hood pins holding the hood down! I love those hoods with the front opening. Enjoy!
Did they steal the carb and manifold through the dash? LOL The truck looks cool but the flames don’t do it for me, good thing its your truck... with dark grey I’d do a contrasting burgundy or perhaps a dark blue.
Try it for a while with the flames, maybe some orange wheels with poverty caps. Roll it out in the sunshine and have a look.
"Old school"? never liked the term. Especially when tagged onto a truck that looks like it was built in the early 80s, when those wheels were popular. Looks like a solid base to knock the ugly off and build a cool driver.
Great score. mid 50's GMC's had a really cool front and neat dash insert. In about 1968 I built a 55/56 Chevrolet short box 1/2 ton with a near new 455 Olds and 400 turbo trans. It was wicked fast.
Bringing it home tommorrow. Clean up time to see what I bought! Going to pickup the 34 Hopefully the end of next week. 2 day trip as its on the other side of the state. I live just outside of Yellowstone and its up in the Northeast part of the state. Yesterday I drove up to the canadian border and look at a 38 Studebaker sitting in a garage since 1964. OVER PRICED! Spent the night in Great Falls and did a swap meet today. picked up 2 things for the 34 and bought a Gear Vendor overdrive for a friend and also a Chrysler 4 speed ****** for him also. HERE AT HOME THE WIFE TOLD ME THAT SHE WAS ATTRACTED TO MEN IN UNIFORM.!!!! I STOPPED TODAY AND BORROWED ONE FROM KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN!
Got it home today after a good wash job at the car wash. Found out its not a 283. Its a 365hp 327 with 202 fuelie NOS heads out of a 65 Corvette. Its getting better! Thats a perfect 55 hood in the bed.
