From our local cruise this past Saturday.

 

I would love to see more pictures of that one 40ragtopdown.

 

That's the only one I have. If I should run across any more I will post them.

 

I might sell it.... Don't try to low ball me . Just needs a little detailing and it will be just fine!

 

That appears to be David Mock's wife's '40.

the 11 vs 12 louvers on grille top side panels if I count right

I knew this detail but am too lazy to count so I’ll take your word for it.

 

..So, the question that begs to be answered, why did they change the number of louvers?...

 

No idea of time or reason but guessing maybe jan 40--seen quite a few earlier too-Nov Dec 39-other stuff different too. Have a coupe thats early with all the early features best I can tell is about Nov,Dec 39

 

This has come up before with no definitive answers. Ford changed things a lot. Two different ashtray designs as well in 1940. It’s across all models. Why were there 3 different grilles for 32’s? In a 9 month production run???

 

I drove my 40 to coffee tonight to meet with some old friends. This car has been sitting for about 3 years and I just recently got it going again. It's still got a few squawks to work out but it sure is a fun old car to drive. Smooth and quiet except for that flatty music coming out of the pipes!

 

Slowin down a bit but looks like another one coming my way for work. 40 Woodie for same guys I did 39 for--40 next

As X38 said, quite a few differences between early and late 40's Have had maybe 15 pass thru here--several early ones too. As to time frame best I can tell is near end of 39-maybe Jan 40 Ashtrays, grille louvers, coupe decklids and a few other things I noticed. Also some differences plant to plant

 

..Can you elaborate a bit on the "coupe deck lid differences"? Thanks.
