Starting my first Model A build. Got a 29 sedan body in good shape. Going to channel the body over the frame. Just wondering what width rears anyone is running? My buddys got a 9 inch i can have with a 55 inch length between backing plates. I did some measuring and it looks like this might fit but I'm not positive. going to run 825 x 16's in the back. Thanx for any help.

i've got a 31 sedan, i think the rear end i used is 57" backing plate to plate. just measure at the rear windows if your going to channel.

I got a 9" out of a 67 p/u, and lengthened it 3" to fit my channeled sedan.

I'm probably gonna run a GM 10 bolt out of a grand prix. It was a little wide for our T roadster, but on the sedan it should be just right. 54" tire-to-tire I believe...

55" is a tad narrow for a channeled sedan. It cuts down your wheel/tires choices.

I am running a 57" Ranger axle and it's too narrow for the 8" slicks. Now I need to either find a different axle or modify the wheel tubs.

I am running air-bags out back and they are pumped up pretty tall so that the tires don't rub.

    Looks like *** too.

At full drop, the tires are resting on the wheel tubs.

I'm running an early Bronco 9" which is 58" wide. I am running 4" backspace wheels and L78-15 CC and had to use a 1/2" spacer on each side for clearance. I have no channel, just a Z. 55" seems tight...what backspace and tires are you planning to run? Might be ok depending on your wheel/tire combo.

I have a 65 Ford F100 9", no mods done to the rear and it worked in my 29 thats channelled 6 inches. I run 8 inch rims with 2 inch backspacing.

my first a sedan had a 9" out of a early galaxy ( i think) was 61" or so.....ran a 8" reversed wheel with 3" back ....would rub a little in a long curve....but it also had 255/70's at the time......brandon

I have an 8" from a 68 mustang. I cannot remember the width. It was perfect until I channeled the body then I recut the wheel arches. It worked out fine because I wanted the tires to fit tight against the body. I am not a big fan of the wheel and tire sticking out from the body. My car is only channled 3". There was a website some one posted that told the widths of all the rear ends but I cannot find it right now.
