Funny how spectacularly broken parts become treasured memories and relics to rodders...I just discovered an old R&P I replaced almost 40 years ago-- tooth count looks to be about 5 by 30, without counting all the teeth down in the bottom of the bucket...
Oops, I did that once upon a time way back when. Was sitting on the starting line, engine revving to about 5K, the flag went up, I nailed it, let the clutch out, and she exploded. Parts went everywhere. One hit the flagman and knocked him down, one hit the other car and broke his brand new finned valve cover (he was pissed) and one went through the window of the timing tower (scared the shit out of eveyone in there) and one landed in my lap (hot I'll tell ya). LOL, now have I given away my age?
Was this your "shifting" problem? It's all in a days work, get her fixed and show 3-W your taillight!
Good job Brad. Welcome to the world of drag racing. Oh well it's still fun, right? If you need any help just holler.
You didnt give us a toe count, you didnt ruin a good pair of sneekers did you. ill bet you just soiled you jeans. Ha Ha better check the input shaft on the tranny too!
I would blame the pressure plate manufacturer for "defects" and demand a new one. Speaking of JB Weld, can you cut threads in it once its cured? I have an aluminum camera tripod head that has stripped threads and was wondering if the JB Weld would be the way to repair it. Thanks, sorry for the high jack.
Figures. Glad you're still relatively intact. A guy I used to work with lost three toes to a 727 drum back when "R" stood for "Race".
This is the first I've heard of this deal. Tell the whole story Man. Give us all the facts, please. New, used? RPM? sights, sounds? Any gore invovled? Why is it with 6" bias plys each HA/GR team has burned up a trans and or clutch?
I launched at 4500rpm's. the tires never spun, a lot of chatter in the clutch, but nothing that sounded like a break. We just towed back to the pit after the run, then went back to the line again before we even knew that the clutch broke. oh well. It was a brand new pressure plate with only 10 passes on it.
It's all that Damn horsepower your makin, just too much for the driveline. So tune it way down and you wont break nutin. You can go down the track dreaming of all the money your saving by dee tuning as we BLOW BY YOU.
