[1954] This photo-diagram showing West 12th Street explains how the proposed "painless-parking" system would work if adopted by the City Traffic Commission. There would be 40 feet of parking space for two cars. In front and behind these cars would be two 8-foot no-parking areas. Thus, the front car would have eight feet to pull away forward from the curb. The rear car would have 8 feet of space to back up and then go forward away form the curb. (Herald Examiner Collection)
