This past Saturday a couple buddy’s and I took our Banger powered Hot rods on a 80 mile and 2 ferry boat ride trip. We’ll call it the “1st annual Bangers only invitational”. This was basically a test run to see what the route would be like and where the spots to stop would be. Started our journey in Burien/ SeaTac WA and headed south down marine view drive along the water. It was a beautiful drive south with the water peeking at you through the trees and sometimes on full display. Stopped briefly in Redondo Beach at the boat launch. We continued south down to Browns point light house. Small parking lot and a bit out of the way so we will probably skip next year. Sill a very scenic view.
Up the road a little ways were some very cool lookouts with some great views of Mt. Rainier and the Port of Tacoma.
Stopped at Ball auto service for a top off of ethanol free gas and a spark plug change, the one thing I didn’t do the day before.
After lunch we made our way down through old Tacoma to the Point Defiance ferry dock. Time to cross the water over to Vashon Island.
Once we were on the island we headed to a really cool Light house park where we enjoyed the views with a few adult beverages.
After taking in the beautiful scenery we continued on to the north end of the island to catch the ferry back home. Overall it was a great day, very hot for April in the PNW. We definitely know where to stop next year and will spend more time exploring the island.
