After sitting for months I have finally found time to get back to the coupe. Couldn’t seem to find a right rear fender that was decent and affordable. Decided to pull the one off of my parts car and start welding and pounding. It’s coming along.

 

That looks like a really nice fender compared to what I see at swap meets nowadays.

 

Right rears are certainly hard to find, I was told is because you really cant see that corner from the drivers seat and a lot of them were backed into stuff. I have collected three scrappy Deluxe ones and a really nice standard with no tail light that will get a hole cut and the extra backing plate around the hole from one of the scrap fenders added for my coupe. I too struggle with time for the 40, but I tell myself all the time at least I have one.

Yes, I went to a lot of swap meets last summer. I couldn’t find a decent fender.

 

Anymore a decent 40 fender is one you might be able to salvage. Extremely rough shells are no longer considered parts cars.

 

Just finished blasting and repairing some rusty grille parts.

 

This piece was a lot of work. Not perfect but good enough for this build

Those '40 DeLuxe grills are a royal pain in the ol' keaster... lucky for them they're so gol'-dang good lookin'!!

195/65/15 seems to be a popular choice up front. I figured I’d give it a try like so many cool kids here

 

75's have a better proportioned sidewall. 165 or 185/75. And 235/75 in the rear on a 7.
Sits great just the same.

 

I'm running 5.60R15 on front & 8.20R15 on rear. The car now sits a click lower than this pic, as the springs have settled an inch +/-. In retrospect I'd gone a size taller on the front and not lowered the front 2". But for now it is what it is.

 

Looks nice. How does she drive on those tires? I love the look but roads around Pittsburgh really suck.

 

Rides real well. However, as with any narrow tire, you don't want to charge into turns real fast...
