@Cowtown Very nice! Those are among my favorite body styles. There was a guy around the L.A. area that had one with wires and a unrestored body, it has the look!

Thats a Master shorter doors, longer quarter panels, not like mine which is a Standard. After seeing yours I like alot more! I did not have the rite rear door for my standard BUT did have a Master rear door, they are taller so I sectioned it in 2 places. Does your rear window roll up & down? Should be a longer wheel base also. More pics please!!!! IMG_4213.JPG IMG_4235.JPG IMG_4236.JPG IMG_4245.JPG

    Hello,

Now you can see why no one wanted that cool 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery with a 348 motor chugging into the drive-in restaurant parking lot in 1960. I liked it instantly, just because it sounded outstanding. It was not just a Flathead, but something more powerful. But, for most of the teenagers, they were used to seeing this TV repair guy’s truck and not hot rod material. A 40 Ford woody, yes, a 40 Ford sedan sitting in the same parking lot with a Buick motor and tall LaSalle stick shift lever sticking up, along with a sometimes cruising 46 Ford custom coupe were the mainstays of modified, custom cars.

But, not a sedan delivery they saw on TV repair days at their own houses. No one wanted any association to those “working folks” and their commercial vehicles as their own hot rod or cruiser. All except for me. Instantly, the sedan delivery gave me idea of privacy in camping at the beach areas or side streets during our surf road trips. If a campground was not near the surf, then a nice quiet street was fine as we could hide inside and cram our longboards in ways they should not be placed.

Salmon Pink new paint, black wheels, small hubcaps and a mean sounding 348 motor was what we all experienced when it rumbled through the drive-in restaurant parking lot.

Nothing could be opposite in my thinking versus those that just gave a great sounding 348 powered sedan delivery the once over and then push it aside as a side show, not for their tastes. But, I could see ahead in my upcoming travels up and down the coastal road trips in search of waves and adventures.

In our bartering for the sale of the 348 40 Ford Sedan Delivery, it ended up with me the new owner of a Flathead powered sedan delivery and going from fast to slow in one week.

So, in our high school years and summers, the Flathead sedan delivery again and again allowed us to explore and find new adventures to call our own. The hot rod spirit still lived, only in a different way.

1000s of miles later well beyond high school, the satisfaction with my choice back then paid off in plenty of dividends of adventures and tons of memories that last forever !!! YRMV

  29. Looked at a 1934 Ford sedan delivery project just the other day. Western car, buddy is just decided he won't get to it. Reasonably priced, but no pictures, as I didn't have a photo device with me.
