  1. Looks like a vintage BMW grille , maybe a 328 which would be a costly item these days.

Yep that's me in my younger days when I had hair LOL. In the first pic note the beer can jack stands. 8 big steel beer cans brazed together where they touched made a nice cheap jackstand. Had to go real easy on the jack though.
Funny thing was we didn't drink, picked them up off the road and made jack stands. Local boys when they visited thought we'd had some good parties.
Second pic is the early version with the flathead and first pic is mock-up with the Poly 318
I think @40ragtopdown has more pics of the car than I have. He's got a pic of me and Eddie in it at our hot rod clubs- Castlemaine Rods Inc- 60th birthday celebration. Two old farts in an old hot rod! Good stuff.

  9. The Syndicate Scuderia, IIRC, had a front engine top fuel car.

Thanks for that @40ragtopdown. Something of interest, the tires on the car in the first pic were purchased from the Akron Tire Company in Melbourne CBD -only Firestone dealer we could find- and were 8.00x14 rear and 6.40x13 front. The front tires are long gone but the rears are still on the car 60 years later as can be seen in the pic of Eddie and I in it recently. The front tires are Camec Portugese blackwalls with w/w flappers fitted to keep the look.
