I'm looking for some help making old school multi carb linkages for both 3x2 and 6x2 setups. Photos would be great.

This is going to be a good thread. Not to steal the thread but does anyone know if Offenhauser still makes the linkage for the 6x2 sbc. If so a part number maybe?

  8. Here's a couple pics of a dual quad setup to give you some ideas.

Use 1/4" Heim joints and 1/4" stainless rod threaded 1/4-28.

Some guys like to use left hand threads at one end and Heims - in the smaller sizes anyway - come with LH threads.
LH Dies are easy to get mail order from MSC and maybe Enco.
LH locknuts are found at well equipped hardware stores.
Even so, I've found all right hand threads to work quite well.
A half turn moves the linkage 1/56th of an inch.
    That's about .012 - .014 or so.

    Heims also come double ended.
For a tri-power setup, two single end Heims and one double end Heim is an excellent way to go.
All the carb arms are identical and swinging the same arc so no problems there.

Make yourself a couple of tri-power linkages.

Cut off a couple pieces of 1/2" square stock, clean em up so the ends are rounded and look nice.

Drill 1/4" holes at the ends making sure they are oriented 90 degrees to each other.
You may want to make one drilled hole 5/16" . . . the size will depend on the cross-rod that transfers motion from one side to the other.

Get a longer than normal carburetor stud so you can bolt the square stock pieces to the back of the rear carbs.

A pair of carb/linkage arms from Speedway to bolt to the cross-rod will allow the mechanical motion to transfer from one side to the other and allow hooking up to the linkage on each side.

You'll need a couple short pieces of linkage with Heims on each end.
Use a long bolt and stack the Heims on the front carbs, one on each side.
The back end goes to the Speedway carb/linkage arm.

Bring a throttle rod out of the firewall and connect that to the left side carb/linkage arm and throttle pedal.

So what you've got is a throttle rod operating the - in effect - tri-power setup on the left side and mechanical motion is transferred to the right side via the cross-rod and linkage over there.

Adjust linkage so all carb butterflies just seat.
Use the idle screw on the center carb on each side to set the idle and the outer carbs will follow accordingly.
You may want to re-adjust the linkage so the outer carb butterflies are just off the throttle bore or touching it lightly.

You should be able to build the six 2bbl linkage for under $75. and probably close to $60.
Buy your Heim joints at a bearing house.
Aircraft supply outfits have them, but most times anything that's slated for aircraft is priced at a premium even if it's the same thing the bearing house has.

Next up, tuning, but that's another story.... :D
