He has a 61 wagon, pulling the 283 3 on the tree for a 350 auto.

  3. Bushing shortage. Yeah, just went through that trying to find a stator bushing for an AOD I'm trying to rebuild. Took me three weeks to finally get the right one. The delay stalled my project for a while, but this week I'm resuming the process. Shout out to Saltflats who's helped me tremendously in all kinds of ways as I tackle this new skillset.

  4. My Dad loved Kit Wax!! It sure works nice on my stuff.

  5. Finished up an adapter to bolt an A833 overdrive four speed to a NP435 bell housing. They share the same bearing retainer hole but have a different trans bolt pattern, the plate is 1/4” and I milled a 1/4” off the back of the bellhousing as well. Going in the Barracuda project behind a freshened up 318.

And the bellhousing in the surfacer at work.

This car is all about using parts I have, this transmission I’ve been packing around for 25-30 years. I had two of these bellhousings a flywheel and a clutch.

  6. Very nice work Fargo!! I like the way you think!

  7. I have a rusty ‘65 Valiant that was my highschool car that I am now parting out to put the Barracuda together. I bought the car because it’s nice and solid just missing parts. I took inventory and figured I had almost everything, I was going to rebuild an auto for it but I dug through my stock and came up with all the parts to put the four speed in it.

No longer an idea. Making it happen. 8C6EDDB5-296D-48AD-8174-9606F2D3B8DF.jpeg 5E729B6D-50E7-4A03-8AD5-316E7CCB425A.jpeg EE1EBAD6-5DB8-4C6C-A20B-67885C1ECAE5.jpeg

  9. I got sidetracked from what I should be doing on the Henry J and started the process of making some new bling for the 41 B/BBC.
Stripping the black crinkle paint to see what I have to work with, going to put a pair of duals on them and polish them out of course. I've been thinking about building this set for a few yrs and have had all the parts for at least a year now, time to at least get started.
I'm also thinking about buying a bench top blasting cabinet for baking soda or something else fine, don't need any extra roughness to work out on the polishing side of things.

  10. 2nd one done, now just waiting on the blasting cabinet to arrive so I can give them a once over.
The crinkle paint covers sure aren't dressed as clean when coming out of the mold, will need some extra work where they ran these around the belt sander.

Almost done, couple more spots that need a little cut and buff. Fender emblems, put the door panels back in, new windshield, and it goes home :D 20230511_160338.jpg 20230511_160530.jpg

Could you take a old CalCustom valve cover and cut the fins out of the top of it and tig it to the top of the scoop?

It's obvious that you have taken a dislike to your pickup and it's my opinion that if you keep on going in the direction this build is taking you, you will be even more upset than you currently are. Let me help you with that. I have a rust free '46 Mercury mordor that I would be willing to trade for your pickup and, to top it off, I am willing to haul it to you and remove that sorry POS from your sight. Just trying to help you out ;).

I'm still trying to figure out how that might work. Lots of things to consider, not all of them are what you might expect. So it might end up with a little 327, which is also a magical engine.
