so I’m cleaning up my model A spring pack to go underneath the T roadster project and I find this. It looks to me that the spring says gm on it. It came out of a stock model A spring pack 178E4DA4-B7EB-4936-BB8D-E8FB1B1EA549.jpeg . What give here? I’ve come across Ford scripts all over old ford parts but never a gm.

Unless it's been altered by having the corners rounded, it might not be a Model A spring. All Model A spring leaves had "clipped" corners. Do you have a picture of the entire spring?

    That stands for Good Metal.

On the other hand a farmer could add anything to increase a vehicle's weight bearing capacity. Where in the pack is it from?

p.s. An A spring in a T? It's usually the other way around.;)

It’s the second leaf just above the main leaf. As far as the t and a spring thing it’s a front spring.

Wasn't me! But I keep a number of spring leaves and use them when I tune a spring. I have a leaf from a '37 Chev in the pack on the front of my T Coupe.

I see 'CM' not GM. Tips of each letter are skewed a bit yet I see the letter C.

I've seen this on Ford front springs as well. No idea what it means
