Where to buy paint supplies in South Austin?

Where can you buy automotive paint & body supplies like sandpaper, compound, buffing wheels, and so on in Central/South Austin?

 

How about a paint and body supply store.. Im thinking a phone book with yellow pages might be handy. even a google search might turn up something

I tried many of the hits from Google, Yellow Pages, etc. but there are very few places that sell "auto" paint supplies retail near where I live/work.

I'm looking for some word of mouth recommendations from some locals here.

 

Most of the auto parts stores in south austin stock simple paint supplies i.e. Autozone, Orielly's. I am not aware of any automotive paint suppliers left in south austin. Most of the body shops will not sell you any supplies or paint because of the paint nazis here in austin. You might try South Austin Auto Supply or the NAPA on South Congress.

 

i can't remember the name but east of 35 on MLK there is an auto paint supplier you can't miss the building its a little ways down but not all the way to 183 on the left side of the road. i'm not sure if they sell to the public or not, i haven't had a need to buy paint yet but it's the only place in austin that i've seen other than the obvious auto stores that don't stock much.

Does it HAVE to be close? I went to the paint store twice when I painted The Judge.. and I bought the paint by mail order from a California company..

After working for a mom and pop jobber that got bought out by a large conglomeration (finishmaster) I would do everything I could to buy from a local mom and pop.
