Me too! This was my dad’s car when I was a kid...actually the kid in the pic...:D It was my favorite of all the vettes he had when I was young. I would love to have it now back like it was before he put it back stock. It was the perfect 70’s custom vette to me...even smacked in the front end. It had pinstriped flames, fender flares and slots. Too cool.

60 years ago, when I was 12, my cousin gave me a ride in his fuel '61. It ruined me, been in love ever since.

  4. have you ever opened the cutouts on that ride? ive always kinda wanted to have cutouts on a car, but ones that are designed to stay on the car with two wing nuts, one side is slotted so you can loosen the wingnuts, and swing it off.

    if that'd work

Scotty t, it’s funny you say that, cuz , ever since my next door neighbor, who bought a ‘67 red 327/350 roadster new; drug home a black with silver metalflake coves , two four 270 hp; hot rodded‘59 in about 1971; I’ve wanted a ‘56-‘62 car as well. Guess I’d have to part with my coupe to get one though! ( not gonna happen!)… sure love em though.

Here's my '61 that I've had for 4 years. It's patiently waiting it's turn to get the mechanicals refreshed after about a 45 year slumber.

  15. Tom, with due respect the record needs to be set straight. Duntov hated the split back window. Him and Bill Mitchell butted heads over it, Mitchell as design head won out as Zora was just a staff engineer. Ed Cole, who was head of operations, ruled the split window would stay... for one year. Duntov is quoted as saying. "there was blood spilled over it, my blood."

Larry Shinoda is credited with designing the '63, also the Boss Mustang. And he is HAMB approved for owning Chopsticks a primered '32 coupe drag car.

nope, original red rubber. the chrome only goes to the metal. it doesn't hurt the rubber

  21. Since @blowby has been absent due to an unfortunate accident i’ll post his 56. Not the best pics but they’ll do. He also has a midyear, if someone can dig up a pic post it please

  27. Not lucky enough to have an early Vette, I can only look at them and dream. The first generation ones are the best in my opinion, and we know what that is worth.
We all know what the 53-54 tail lights look like but when did the lights get changed to the round ones in the rear panel? '61? or '60? I always liked the lights on top of the rear fenders, kind of look like a beetle or the back half of a lighting bug. The four headlights came out in what '58 or '59? I always liked them the best but this thread has me rethinking that as there are some good looking two headlight cars on this thread.

I have an O/T '67 Coupe. I bought it in '87 to make up for the '67 coupe I ordered new in 1967. I sold that one after a couple of years and regretted it for the next 18 years. I found my current car just before prices skyrocked and was able to buy it for a very reasonable price. It was a nice orignal car when I got it, and I drove the wheels off of it for the next 20 years until 2007, when I did a body-off restoration. It's getting a little "long in the tooth" again, and I'm gonna "freshen it up" a bit and sell it. At my age and arthritis, I no longer bend the proper ways to get in and out of it.
