Nice weather, great people, nice cruise, Greg's Speed shop was cool to see again, and several took a shot at the strip.

I have the same pictures as everyone else, but you get to see them anyway.

Beautiful weather this year. Had a good time, mostly. Halfway through, started having some engine problems, but we made it. Got home ok, too. And wife got herself a new skirt at Greg’s.

Overheard at a reliable run in Colorado some years ago!!!

I just drove 1,500 miles in a roadster without a top experiencing 100+ degree temperatures, through both rain and hail storms, bugs of all kinds. Unspeakable road conditions, now they want to know if I want to go on a “Reliability Run!”

Roughly 350 or so miles before and after that 116 mile "Reliability Run".

But HEY! My V8 non-OD pickup got almost 17 mpg on that 116 mile run. Seems the farther I drove, the better the gas mileage got. The truck must want to cruise!

Yea man, I'm ready! The outside temp as I am writing this is 52 degrees in the northwest corner of IL. Even the big piles of snow in parking lots are almost completely gone.

I'm hoping the timing works out OK for us this year, we may be preparing my mother's house for sale about that time in May. She is currently in a long term health care center and we will have the official word on if she can return to her house or not about that time. If she can't return to her home, we will be selling it. I would much rather be cruising, but you know how that works, family first. Please pray with us for God's will to be done concerning this.

I will be watching this, just in case things work out in our favor.

Is this a club member thing or open to anyone? It looks like it could be a good shake down for the 51 if I can stay on schedule.

Definitely open to everyone. If we only allowed club members to go on the drive, it would be a really small group.

Ronny or Neil would have to speak to how many folks typically make this drive, but the ones we do in St. Louis, Springfield, MO, or Oklahoma typically bring in a couple hundred cars or so.

This picture was at the driver instruction meeting and kick off prayer for last years event. I don't have the total number, but it was a sunny, cool, brisk, morning. I took pictures of 39 cars & trucks. 100_1052.JPG
This is part of the crew that made it happen (I don't see Ronny). 100_1054.JPG And this is what it looked like from somewhere near the middle of the pack as we were heading out.

Join us, its a great day, with a great ride through the WI countryside, with car friends. They will even let you tag along (and they will welcome you) if your hot rod doesn't get ready in time.

Do they start and end at the same place? I'm thinking, if I can make it, I'd trailer the car to somewhere a little closer and then drive the car. I don't want to find out the car has a few bugs 5 hrs. from home and be in that fix it or else mode. Did that too many times as a youngster.

  19. Usually doesn't end at SAME place as start. But, not more than 100 miles away.

I can't picture this group leaving you stranded any place along the route. These are old cars, I think someone has had a problem of some kind or another every year so far.

As far as starting and ending at the same point, that would depend on the route they take. We have had routes where we did a 100 mile loop and ended up not far from where we started, and we have had routes where we ended up 100 miles from where we started from.

The route is usually known before is registration time, so you can make a plan. My wife and I usually spend the night at a hotel close to the starting point, then drive home after the event. Normally, starting time is pretty close to 9 am, and it usually ends with lunch at the end point, with the closing ceremony at about 2 pm. If you park your truck & trailer near the starting point, I can't imagine someone won't at least get you back to your truck and would probably help you past that point, regardless of where a problem might happen along the route. These guys are very good car people.

I missed it last year, but in ‘22 my wife drove a car back from Colorado, had a few issues on the way home to SW Wisconsin, and broke down in Iowa. I ran out there, trailered it home, then got to work. I spent the week wrenching, as the car wasn’t as reliable as the seller claimed. I pretty much got the car, a ‘63 LeMans, roadworthy again late Friday evening, the day before the HR100. Good times!
I plan on making it this year ,in one of my cars. All 3 are in various stages of repair.

  23. We are starting in Top Fuel Garage in Kewaskum WI and heading to Street Works Exotics in Pewaukee WI. We have a few small details to hammer out and should be getting registration open real soon.

  24. I just reserved a room at Country Inn & Suites in West Bend for Friday May 17.

Damn. Gonna miss it again. My band's playing just outside of Columbus that day. Gotta remember to not book the 3rd Saturday.

Just reserved a room at that Country Inn in West Bend also. Can’t wait, no idea which car I’ll be bringing yet. If I get my Merc roadworthy, I might have my son drive one also.
