Customs ford 292 v8 good or not ?

  3. in my experience a Y block isnt much bigger (or smaller) than a small block chevy

    My first set of wheels was a '57 Ford F100 with a Y-block. Enough power for a 16 year old kid but the thing I remember most was the sound of the dual exhaust with the glass packs. Nothing I've owned since sounded so good! I abused that truck and the engine never let me down. The transmission did but the not the engine!

    Well after reading all this about the 292, I think I will keep it and maintain it. I gotta mechanic coming (GMC) tomorrow to get stated. This friend has a mobile mechanic service. Very handy to not have to take my car some place and leave it for months. And I can buy my own parts to put in it. We will start by rebuilding the front end steering and suspension, disc brakes on the front and new radiator. I will have him do a compression check to see how healthy the motor is. I got a Edelbrock 600cfm to top it off. Should be fun.
