Doesn’t the radiator sit mostly on top of the cross member ?
The photo you show with the level, - looks like the fan would actually be in the middle of the radiator.

Have you had the radiator bolted in the correct place ?

With the shorter fan/water pump everything should fall into place ?
    Or maybe I just don’t understand what’s going on…..

Yes the rad is bolted on top of the cross memeber. The radiator has a slight forward lean and the fan is super close to the rad. I’ve got the stock radiator and my shorter aftermarket, both sit a donkey hair away from the fan. When I get home from SF, I will assemble and show you in photos. My engine consumes every bit of space, the top of the head is half inch off the firewall, the fan is smack against the radiator.

This is a new 4-blade fan I got from Bratton's. See that little extension protruding from the front? Near as I can tell, the fan blades are set back roughly half an inch from stock, but pulley remains in stock location. This fan might buy you the space you need.

You have the A style pump to match your head (4-bolt mounting) so the B pumps won't work (3-bolt mounting)
But in your pic things look too far forward ?
Tried to get you a pic of my A (A radiator and shell with the hood) for reference. The radiator core is 2" thick 20230601_081401.jpg
