A lot depends on the output shaft that’s in the trans. If its a stock shaft, putting a speedo gear on it isn’t a problem. If it’s a hardened aftermarket shaft there is no hole to locate the speedo gear or a hole drilled thru the shaft for the governor pin which you will need along with a valvebody to put it back to automatic shift. You will need all the linkage that goes from the ****** to the carb.

Thanks, that info helps. I don't have a third member in the car yet, and the tires and wheels are just to roll it around, so I have a lot to do. Jim

I think you can get a speedometer set up that uses magnets on the driveshaft for pickups. That trans specialties output shaft, probably does not have provisions for a speedometer gear.

I may have to go that route, especially if I leave the trans brake in. Thanks, Jim

I think they even have them that are GPS operated. Don’t even need magnets.

Decided to sell the racing powerglide transmission, and have the turbo 350 I bought rebuilt and get it installed. Thanks to everybody that helped me with this project. Jim

I posted a want ad for this -- no response yet.

I'm looking for a Winters/Fairbanks/Sidewinder gated Powerglide reverse patten shifter at a reasonable cost.

    Anybody have one? Thanks, Jim
