30 year old rubber gaskets starting to weep some, tightening did no good so bought new Fel Pro today, rubber steel reinforced. Look quality. $49 and change. I go see the Dr. about my Sciatic issues tomorrow.

$49 for valve cover gaskets?! Damn, did you seal them with some Grey Poupon?

I'm all about the cheap cork, which I've always found seals best.

  3. Yikes!!! Where did you buy them? And yes, I’ll have some Grey Poupon on my sandwich.

I just looked on The Rock and the premium ones are from $25 to $33. Ugh!! I can see $49 locally. Great, I’ve got one starting to leak on my F-150. Thanks for the reminder.

Auto-Zone around the corner and a bit from me. I have some Cork still packaged that are probably 50 years old. Didn't want to trust them.. I'll take standard yellow please.

Those 50 year old gaskets will work just fine on my 60 year old perennially over torqued valve covers. Amazon offers cheap rubber gaskets, But I recommend leaving them in China, and buying the better Chinese gaskets elswhere

Replaced valve cover gaskets and oil pan gasket on the SBC in the OT plastic sports car I just bought. They are The ****. Steel inserts make install easy and prevent over-torquing. Went from leaking so bad smoke rolled out from under the hood when running to leak free. Not a drop on my garage floor now. Paid $27 for valve covers and $37 for oil pan at Rock Auto. Pan gasket also came with some slick plastic retainers that hold the gasket to the pan, makes in car replacement a breeze. None of this **** of trying to line up and seal corners on the old 4-piece set. I sold Victor for years but I think FelPro has them beat on these.

SBF with the steel must be seen , they are tough stuff , for sure a life time gasket . I have sets salvaged from engine builds hangin in the garage . These are not the tin insert generic made stuff .

#VS13264T are the gaskets in question. Yes they may be more expensive, but they are the best you will find in my opinion

I use Cometic gaskets, not cheap, but they work and are re-usable.

Permatex #2 gasket to cover. Let sit about an hour with weight on top. If you don’t look inside Permatex both sides.

Those rubber/steel core gaskets are the truth! I’ve had a set on the 302 in my Fairlane since I’ve had the car which is going on 13 years now. They’ve never leaked once!
