https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1295849581312388 These are my tires I'm selling and I'm in Northern California, and besides that I don't even have a Facebook account. Dirty30 alerted me to the scam.
I see people buying stuff on marketplace but when I looked for 34 Ford pickup rear fenders, I got a bunch of people showing me the exact same pictures. they are all scammers
Report it as a scam, as stolen as counterfeit and anything else that fits. I've done it many times and it does work. It might just disappear it short order.
Me hate Facebook. and lying chiseling pieces of excrement. My first two wives were chislers and worse
Not always a scam, but still dodgy. People relist other people's stuff for a higher price, and if they get a sale they immediately buy the item from the original listing and send it on to their buyer. Not technically illegal if they actually supply what they relisted. Still a pretty ****ty way to do business though........
This is why my wife and I do not do social media. Never had never will. I love looking at stuff for sale and all but unless it’s on here or maybe through word of mouth from other Hot Rodders I stick to swap meets.
Scammers are everywhere, including here on the HAMB, I buy and sell regularly on Facebook and there's lots of hard to find parts pop up. Usually you can pickup on the scammers by the wording, looking at profiles and the kind of money transaction they want. Hopefully after the reports and the sharing the guy is removed but you can only ***ume he'll be back under another name, do your due diligence.
To me, most of FB is made up of attention-*****s and malcontents. I ditched it in 2019, never looked back. My brother sells high-end bicycles there and says it is rife with con artists.
It’s no different than any other marketing place. All of them have the malcontents that want to part you and your money and leave you with nothing to show for it, you just have to figure out who they are. I’ve bought several vehicles on there, some parts, tractor equipment, a atv and a riding mower, I did my homework BEFORE I made contact. A lot of them you can spot a mile away, the ones with multiple posts of the same item being listed in several different areas for a price way below average market price come to mind. They will all have the same picture or pictures, and a lot of them will say something like always garage kept since new. Really? How many cl*** A motor homes or farm tractors have you ever seen that were garage kept? Usually, but not always, the ones that get taken are the ones who want to get everything for almost nothing themselves, the kind of folks who try to undercut everyone. Nothing wrong with trying to get a deal, but intentionally trying to screw someone out of something doesn’t sit well with me, online or in person.
The last 6/7 years I've bought and sold a lot more from ads on Facebook than here. I used to consider Hamb the #1 spot
Facebook is a ****hole full of **** talkers and attention *****s, I killed my account many years ago and do not miss it one little bit. This place is all the soc media I can stand. The internet did not make the world a better place, only a smaller one.....
There was a time in this country, when in the back of just about any popular mechanics book or such publications, and to a large extent, daily cl***ified ads in regional newspapers, you could see ad's such as these, that were chasing the $1.00 bill.
Have you really looked at some of the guys here? They are just as bad. They will message "I want it" then you never hear from them again. Not even a piss poor excuse as to why they are backing out. There isn't anyplace anymore that doesn't have scammers and ********ters. There are all kinds of ***holes on the net. Just like no-shows and B backs. I consider it a part of selling
