Bought a summer home in Lewes,Delaware(residence in central Texas) and am looking for cars shows, drags, exhibitions of cars, etc primarily on the east coast with 4 hours travel time each way. 75 year old Texas rodder with 60++ years hot rod flathead experience.
John Go to this website https://www.cruisein.us/weekly-cruiser-broadcast-2 This fella posts once a week events in Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware.
Welcome to the right coast. I am sure you will find those ocean breezes quite different than what you are used to in the summertime! One show I go to every year that is probably at about your 4 hour driving limit is the Western Maryland Street Rod Show in****berland, Maryland on Labor Day weekend.
I arrived Thursday June 8 after driving 3 straight 10 hour days by myself—-wife already there getting house ready for useage. Thanks for all the input—much good info thru the HAMB. Have friends back in Texas “house sitting” for my duration on the “right” coast.
Regrettably, many NJ hot rod events are advertised via Social Media Was at a twice -a- month event yesterday, hosted by the Fossils car club. also worth checking into is this (link)_ Rob and his father Bob Ida have been building Fast hot rods for decades! Hey Hey Texas we ain't but If you don't mind travel.. First, closest, end of June Harrington DE. Can't miss it. ( pulls from Pa, N.J. + Md. Tune in to FM 92.1 'Cruisin 92' Out of Vineland N.J. Car and Doo Wop Radio will air many smaller meets in the Jersey area All during warm seasons. 2nd or third week of August a Must see is Macungie Pa like I said ya gotta ride but it pulls from New England, Jersey Md. ( hear talk of less attendance-Fuel$$ -covid but things look up ) Can't recall the Holiday but Ocean City MD has a large meet on one of the Summer Holidays . Also they show one early October 4-6 Not Hot Rod heavy,,, But worth the effort, Is Fall Hershey 3rd week of Oct. Hershey Pa. Tues-Fri Swap Meet. On Sat Antique show Incl vintage race cars. Once touted as largest meet of its kind in the World. Then any shows will be inside,,- less interest to me. Come Spring, there is Carlisle Pa. a Mecca of cars and parts for sale. If you need nothing, You need to experience the vastness of every brand and most years in pieces, parts frames and shells, some all there, But, all there. Of course York Pa just went by 1st week of June Then there is plenty that I'm aware, but not familiar (others are ) in West MD VA and NC Definetly need to watch SouthEast Gassers for postings of dates and places of drag strip action. Surely a ride, but worth the time, for the Art of High Styled acceleration.
I’m in Boyertown, Pa if you ever wanna visit and talk hot rods! Allentown Dirt drags are in July Wheels of Time is the end of August. Good multi day rod run that's worth visiting. don’t forget Hershey and Carlisle swap meets in the fall!
Parts meets...Fall Carlisle, Fall Hershey, Fall Maple Grove. You just missed a really nice nostalgia meet at Cecil Co Dragway yesterday. There is another one at Mason Dixon Dragway on the 24th. As far as shows and cruises, find a copy of the Cruise Guide, if you can't locate one, P.M. me, and I will get you one. Gene.
i have no idea how far away Maryland is, but the Ty-Rods show is always great. Gathering of the Faithful (? - it's been a while for me) and Charlie Decker's Bandit Pinstriping show in connecticut are also great traditional hot rod shows. anyone who has current information - would be appreciative for 2023 updates - thanks
