    I came across this photo of this *****en little truck. What engine is this? Buick? How many cubic inches? Why use this motor? Abundunt supply? Cheap?

    looks like a nail head to me. They are used because they are bad *** torque monsters.

    wow, it has an omnidirectional headlight bucket scoop! I wonder if it automatically seeks the wind direction or something?

    It appears to be a 322 cu in Buick V8 - although could certainly be one of its smaller, earlier cousins...

    Nope, that was the 264, in '53....

    264s were available in '54-'55 Specials. '53 Specials got the last of the 263 straight eights.

    The "other" reason I've always heard was that the nailhead, due to the verticle valve covers, would fit between the hood sides without mods.
