Hello! Well I'm wiring up a friend's '50 Mercury and I removed the steering wheel wondering why the shaft and steering wheel flop around so much. Doesn't seem to be anything there to support it! Did a search and saw great photos of a spring that should be there - but what else am I missing?? Some kind of bushing? Or perhaps a bearing of some sort? Friend who owns the car says it's been floppy like this since he bought it! Thank you so much for any insight! Greaser Bob
@Greaser Bob Maybe edit the title to something like “need an exploded view of a ‘50 Mercury steering column”. Good luck!

Thank you BJR! Am wondering what all is supposed to be there so looking for an exploded parts diagram
Looks like I'm missing or need 3517, 3518, and 3520! Not having any luck with internet search. Any suggestions on next course of action????
Ok I'm baffled. What centers the inner shaft in the steering column? Even with steering wheel on it just flops around! Ugh!
@Greaser Bob Score! A buddy of mine is giving us an entire 1950 Column with wheel!!! I just have to swing up to MN and grab it!
