    Hello!
Well I'm wiring up a friend's '50 Mercury and I removed the steering wheel wondering why the shaft and steering wheel flop around so much.
Doesn't seem to be anything there to support it!
Did a search and saw great photos of a spring that should be there - but what else am I missing??
Some kind of bushing? Or perhaps a bearing of some sort? Friend who owns the car says it's been floppy like this since he bought it!
Thank you so much for any insight!

@Greaser Bob Maybe edit the title to something like “need an exploded view of a ‘50 Mercury steering column”.
    Good luck!

Ok I'm baffled. What centers the inner shaft in the steering column? Even with steering wheel on it just flops around!
    Ugh!
