Even when I was a FNG, he was there to assist, inspire and offer his support. I am fortunate to have been here to know him...electronically.
Had many email exchanges and phone calls with him.Since I am in France he contacted me initially about French Flathead parts and we reached an agreement and I shipped many parts to him. Wonderful man !!
I'll share something about Bruce. He was bit of a hoarder. I would post something on the HAMB, he would " need" that. I would post on the Ford Barn , he would " need " that. I would post on the Garage Journal , he needed that also. His email was at the library .gov address. Seems like every payday I would find out he "needed" that. One day he said , " both my garages are full", then it was long times between " needing " something. I didn't realize we had become friends, the emails got longer and more detailed. Then I stopped hearing from him. After the post of his death here I know why. He was a one of a kind person, his reasoning and philosophy was unique. Miss the guys emails.
Never met the man but I did sell him a set of main bearing caps for an 8ba. He said he had a block under his bench without caps and they would go to good use. Great guy to deal with. Like everyone says, he is missed. RIP.
Frequently, when looking up some esoteric bit of information on early Fords, I'll find an old post that Bruce has responded to, lighting the way. He's greatly missed and we were lucky to have him while we did.
