The "not fun" part of that trip is between Oak Harbor and I 90. That is 93 miles that google maps says you can do in an hour and fifty minutes but I've had it take over three more than once. Plus from Burlington on I 5 to Oak Harbor is way out of the way for the haulers towing a trailer like Jim does.
OOPs I was thinking frame and not ch***is,

A hauler needs a bit more info. Is this: a bare frame; a rolling ch***is; if rolling, with, or without, engine / trans, etc. It will give them a better feel for space and effort required.

  4. Yes Indeed …

A couple years ago I spent the Summer
    on Orcas Island …

I was towing travel trailers and boats
on trailers using the ferry system from
Anacortes - it was an education.

I have transported to & from
    The Olympic Peninsula as well.

    Yessir …

In reality - if someone with experience
hauling who is an actual business and
not just some guy pulling a trailer that
carries no insurance - is leaving the
Seattle area headed east along the
I-90/94 corridor - they are not going to
give up space in or on a trailer just
to haul to Billings, Montana …

    That leaves them empty headed
    further east ….

Personally, you might be better off to just take a few days, tell the significant other other "lets take a road trip" and get on 90 put it on cruise and just roll for most of 800 miles before you get to the 405 North exit and head up 90 until you Get to Conway, Mt Vernon or Berlington depending on if you want to take the scenic route or the bigger road and just go get it. 99.9 % of the wives love the town of LaConner and it's shops. Truthfully the cost won't be much different than having it hauled unless you go overboard on Motels or food.

Or the wife gets crazy shopping...

    Road trip!

Hey, honey. How about we take a long weekend and go on a drive through some scenic country? A long weekend, just me and you. I hear this town called LaConner has a lot of cool shops the guys on the HAMB say their wives really like to bourse through. While we are near there, we could pick up the new ch***is for the hot rod and save a bundle in shipping.

Gene, my wife and I have been to LaConner a number of times on our boat and it is a fun get away place with interesting shops, good food and a couple of good bars. A little side trip on the way to or from Oak Harbor. You just take a side trip though the tulip fields and farm land of the Skagit valley to get to it. Or he could take highway 2 and stop in the real Washington state Tourist trap town of Leavenworth that is done up as a Barvarian village with way more shops including one that just sells nut crackers. Then on down the road a few miles to Cashmere and stop at Liberty Orchards Aplet and cotlet store and get fresh Aplets that taste a lot better than those that you buy in the store at home. No matter what highway you take here there are places to stop that are pretty cool if you know about them that really aren't a bunch of miles out of the way.

  8. You need to stop posting these
    enticing comments ….

I am dropping off in Spokane, Washington
in a couple days & if you don’t stop
posting my truck just might drive itself
    in a Northwesterly direction ….

You have probably run 90 enough between Billings and I 5 to know that it is a fairly boring stretch of road for the most part, just figure out where you are going to stop for fuel and food and where the rest areas are. It' s I 5 between 90 and where he turns to go to Oak Harbor that is the pain. A real pain for a pro driver towing a trailer for sure.

Yes those towns were a bit of a suggestion that if his significant other rode along on a trip rather than him going on a mission there would be be some interesting places to spend a few hours and R&R after 850 miles. I've been to Oak Harbor a number of times and it is one of your typical military towns next to a big military base. There is a big fruit and veggie stand between Oak Harbor and Deception p*** bridge that is worth a stop to add fresh fruit, berries and veggies to the cooler.

Setting up a plan to get the ch***is to somewhere on I 90 where they can meet someone to haul it to Billings would simplify things.

  11. I have more than a dozen customers north of Seattle including Scott the inventor of the intel chip, but that is another story! The area is loaded with great guys in our hobby!

ANYONE who is a car guy & has driven across this section of I-90 would know to stop & see my friend Jose (owner of Triple **X Root Beer) in Issaquah! His old fashioned restaurant LOVES our cl***ic cars & has several car shows scheduled during the summer months that bring folks from Near & Far! Jose is the absolutely nicest owner of a restaurant I have ever met. I brought him a woody Buick Wagon from a local owner here in Ohio & he treated me like a KING when I showed up!!!!
As long as I will be traveling from Seattle East on I-90, I will make Damn sure I stop & say hello to Jose & I recommend that ANYONE in the area support this great business who is a GREAT supporter of our & hobby
    !!!!!

    God Bless

That Tripple X has great food including a burger that is big enough for the biggest eaters in the bunch. We have stopped there a number of times headed back from the west side.
Back about 35 years ago ago My dad and I would go there after being at one of the rod trots over there as it wasn't that far from where he lived and it was at the base of the p*** for me to head home to the Valley .

Bill, not sure who Scott is, but the inventor of the microchip and founder of Intel is my wife's Uncle Bob (Robert N Noyce). The credit is shared between Bob Noyce, then at Fairchild Semiconductor and Jack Kilby , then at Texas Instruments. Bob came up with the idea of using silicon to make the chip=Silicon Valley. Bob was a great guy who died very young (heavy smoker) or otherwise would likely have won a Nobel Prize (only awarded to living people).

  14. Hi Jeff,
The gentleman that I have transported for is Scott Taylor & from what I understand....He receives royalty checks for the Intel Chip. This did NOT come from him as he is very low key & I did not find out this stuff until after I returned home after the 2nd transport up to him with another MG! If I didn;t have a couple of thousand pictures on my hard drive.....I would post pictures, but....... time does not allow! LOL

Hope all is well in Pa my friend!!!!

    God Bless
    Bill

My wife and I have been lucky enough to have traveled to many parts of this great country. The only areas we have not been to are the northwest corner and the northeast corner. I've had hopes of seeing it all, but the reality of that is slipping away more every year. Though we live in the upper mid west, those two corners of the country are just too far to drive to at this point in our lives. I can't drive the number of hours a day I used to be able to drive.
I would so like to make that road trip you wrote about, but its not in the cards right now. Thanks for taking us along.

If you go to Laconner the Farmhouse Restaurant, just outside of town, is very good food and prices...
