is it a 50-54 morris ute? or could of been a panel at one time. i dunno that plymouth looking grille is throwing me off big time
I had the panelvan version about 25 years ago. 4speed column shift if i remember. What is the flat black convertible thing in the left corner of the pic ? Next weeks puzzle ????
That's what happens when someone lives to close to an airplane junk yard! The first is an Austin with a 40 chevy grille.
Its really a DC-3, the C-47 would have to be in military trim, while the DC-3 or earlier DC-2 would be in civilian trim. Paint makes it look like an early Piedmont airline bird, Piedmont used DC-3's for most of its prop airline history. Based out of North Carolina
That is clearly a Chevy grille, not a Mopar of any kind. Was this built as a Ute from the factory, or is this a conversion?
These were built as either 1/2 ton vans or pick ups from about 58 until 71, this one was my 63 model.
Hey, Were these built inhouse by Austin, or jobbed out to Carbodies or Crayford etc.? S****ey Devils C.C.
They were made my Austin, I'm pretty sure all in house to, will try and find out where the panels were pressed, probably Pressed Steel here in Oxford. They were eventually swallowed up by BMC but not sure when.
It is a C47 and its in post WWII Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) markings. Built here in OZ (NSW) on an old Bedford ch***is, it is an ex RAAF aircraft. Its well known around air shows. The astro dome on top is the give away, only had them on the C47s not on the DC3 variant. DC2 Is also very different, much narrower with twin landing lights in the lower nose. Cheers, Doc.
