Brian ,given the times you are running with that Ford six compared to what Ezio runs with his at Sydney I can guarantee yours has some serious grunt.

    True.
Would like to know how much though..
Got a replacement clutch, will be fitting it tomorrow, give the motor a compression check, pull the head to make sure all is good, then fit it back in Sunday.
Just need it running for Carralbyn in 3 weeks' time.
Will start on making a solid clutch to replace the stock one.

    Well busy week end.
Less than an hour to pull apart and 2 days to put back together.
Everything had to fight me all the way.
Upside is that I found the broken drill bit in the sump.
It is all back together now but not running spot on.
Will readjust the rockers and re tension the head, Give it another tune and check the carbs.
Carralbyn airstrip drag weekend is only 3 weeks away.
Big thanks to Nathan my Chief spanner man for his much needed help.

We want footage. Try to keep Brendon away from the roving cameras and interviewers.

    Ha
His face is a camera magnet.
Brendon is the face of Hambsters Australia,
    He`s a good choice, natural.
His YouTube channel will at least attract and hopefully interest some more
    people.
Are you intending to be at the Day of the Drags in Sydney and also if anyone else is planning to compete.
We are going to discuss this at Carralbyn this weekend.
I am planning to tow down if there is other Hambsters running.

If you blokes are towing down to Sydney I'll be there. I need to know after this weekend because if you aren't coming I'll try to enter for the Wilby test 'n' tune which is same the weekend. I badly need a drag racing fix.

    Well

I have ignored posting for a few months now.
Carralbyn Airstrip drags were a complete bust for me.
Started a good long weekend and went down hill from there.
Loaded the trailer Thursday afternoon and packed.
Headed off to Carralbyn Friday morning.
Set up and rolled the Hambster off the trailer and started it up.
It had a small tick coming from down low, didn`t seem bad and ignored it.
Midday Saturday, started it to drive it to Tech inspection and it had become a rattle.
It p***ed Tech and drove it back, it had gotten worse.
Sounded like it was coming from the sump around 5th cylinder.
    Dropped the sump, all good.
    ****** clutch and flywheel again.
Quick chat and the decision was to pull the motor and box.
    Started at 2pm, mad rush.
Noticed the Flywheel was loose again, despite that it was Loc***ed on.
    Back together by 7pm.
    Sunday morning, first run.
Lined up to go and the run was stopped because the ambulance needed to attend to someone,
we sat at the start line for 10 minutes waiting, In this time I must of bumped the fuel switch off.
Flag dropped and of I launched, for about 20 ft.
Dragster died, knew what it was and flicked the switch over and let it refill the carbs and popped the clutch,
BIG backfire and stuffed the needles and seats in the carbs.
Had to get it towed back.
By then, admitted defeat and decided to become a spectator.
No Real pictures to show of the weekend because I was too busy, but Brendon (The Grey Ghost) has a good video on YouTube, search CARRALBYN 1/8 MILE DRAGS 2023- NOSTALGIA AIRFIELD DRAGS.
    Worth the watch.

What you're trying to say is you had a problem or 2.

    Back together now.
Paid the bucks and got a solid clutch custom made for it.
Replaced everything in the bell housing.
While the motor was out modified and improved a few thing on the ch***is and cooling system.
Also moved the alternator from under the floor to back to where it belongs.
At least now it will be charging every time the motor is running.
Mounted it as low as possible.
The Willowbank Nostalgia`s are in August, will get one test n tune in beforehand.
Sadly Brendon, Brendan and Steve will not be competing so the field will be small.
Still got Jeff to compete against. He beat me last time so better be on the ball this time.

When's the test 'n' tune? I was going to do the trip up to Willowbank but if it's only going to be me and Jeff I'll have to rethink. It's a 1300 kilometre one way for me now.
A couple of years ago it was me, Brendan and John. I ended up running solo because both cars expired and Willowbank didn't want me to run. I told them I've paid my entry, travelled 900 kilometres to get there so I'm running even if it's test' n' tune. That was the year Cruzin' magazine ran a Nostalgia series which I won 3 out of 3 and didn't even get a well done from the magazine.

The test n tune I plan to go to is on 21st July.
There is s test n tune on the 11th August, Friday, the night before the nostalgia`s but the last time I did that one, I blew the clutch and missed the Nostalgia's.
If all goes well mid July I may do the test n tune the day before.
If that is the case, will camp at the track.
Yes, a big commitment with the drive. Thankfully I have a just over a hour drive to get there.
I wanted to go to the Day of the Drags in Sydney, but wasn`t confident with the clutch then, Thankfully the clutch blew at Carralbyn (1 hour 20 min away).
Sydney is a 10 hour drive for me.
Will get there next year. That is my commitment. Will drag Brendon with me.
