This car was a rumor, turned out to be real. It's a '41 Ford, if you can't tell. No frame under it, but the rest is just about all there. Looks like someone else I ran into is going to get it, though, I was about 3 days too late -
Someone else is going to get it, or did they already get it? Looks like you should head down there under the cover of night, load it up onto a flatbed and then nail a letter from the "local authorities" saying the car has been s****ped
If he doesn't show Friday morning, believe me I'll make sure it dissapears if I have to strap it to the top of my Suburban to carry it out of there.
I'm way jealous, I've always loved those cars. I personally would graft a '46 front clip to it and paint it black with red interior, Biff Tannen style. Very cool and very hard to find.
What kills me is I walked past where this is probably 100 times, I'd seen just about every car on both sides of it save this one, a '51 Chevy hardtop with half the top cut off, and a '56 Nash Rambler wagon that is so rusted I think if I push on it it will collapse.
Well, I talked with the guy who has dibs and he wants to build it. He says he's skilled with the english wheel and so forth, can just about make entire fenders from scratch, so I figure it's getting a good home. I did, however, cut a new path and find this today - another car that was supposed to be here but no one knew where and hadn't seen it - until I got bored waiting for people to show up and decided to blaze a path into the jungle. Top bows are folded down, at least one old sign is protecting the top, and a '30's Ford sedan deck lid is on the hood there. Important stuff seems to all be on it - and it looks like the original color was red. And of course after taking the hard way in I found an easy way out from it that had I looked a little harder I'd have already found this one too.
The Chevy? I figured I'd wait until I had it out, there's this stuff my friend calls "monkeyvine" all over around it and you can't see a hell of a lot. If it's anything like the other two of these (54's) I've had, the X in the frame will hold it in one piece but it's probably going to need a 2dr sedan donor car to rebuild it into anything roadable.
