    Hello,

If the world turned on different dimension, our 671 supercharged 292 c.i. SBC blower-spec motor would have had a home base instead of being sold. We had talked about a Corvette, but it would have been a tight fit inside. I drove around in a 61 Corvette after my friend and I worked on it. He was 6’3 inches and I was almost 6 feet. So, we made do with the tight quarters inside of the two bucket seats.

The power from the motor still threw us back into our seats upon acceleration and shifting through the gears was a neck snapper each time. It sounded like an automatic as the speed shifts were quick and smooth. The idea of a Corvette chassis and body was an idea that was going to go a different way than just a drag racing sporty car.

Our parents, at this time period of burn recovery were not having any talks about another drag racing car or new build. It was a solid “NO.” So, the idea continued to stay on a drawing paper, but the 671 SBC motor was still sitting in the backyard garage under a tightly covered canvas tarp, so no one could see what it was, especially, our mom, who peaked into the windows. The plywood door we made was too heavy for her to lift up. That was a good outcome for the homemade garage door.

So, as dreams come and go, this one was always on the charts, but never came to fruition other than drawings for an easy build and color… YRMV

And, the 671 motor? It got sold and shipped to a guy in the “Midwest” in February 1961… So, where is the motor, today?
