This wasn't really hard to find it was my grandpas car. He passed away 15 yrs ago and the car was supposed to be auctioned off. My grandma passed 2 mos ago and I was informed that the estate was putting the car up for sale, so of course I had to buy it!

The Old lady who was the original owner traded the car into the local Ford dealership towards a new car. My Gmpa had his eye on it for a long time and told the dealership owner if she ever traded it in to call him. She did and he bought it, it was in the late 70s or early 80s. He and my gma would drive it 2 miles to church and back and also in the village parade every year and that was all. pretty much all original except the original owner brush painted it black.

I'm thinking traditional hot rod with juice brakes and only bolt on or off modifications leaving the original interior intact.

Car hadn't been started in 23 yrs. Put marvel in the cylinders for a few days, got a new battery , cleaned the carb and fuel pump and stuck the fuel hose in a gas can and it fired and idled first time.

I'm amazed at how complete and original this car is! The sound deadener inside the rear quarter panels, jute under the floor rubber mat etc. etc. everything still works on the car! It has 73k miles!

Fantastic car and glad you were able to keep a family heirloom in the family. Nice it didn't get auctioned off 15 years ago, that would have been a shame. Juice brakes and bolt-on speed parts for the engine sounds like a good plan, maybe reversed spring eyes or something like that.

Sounds like, the classic old sales pitch from your local used car salesman. (Car owned by a little old lady, who only drove it to church on Sundays). :) :D

    Nice honest old car !

Makes you wonder what car she got to replace it. At that time what would the Ford dealer have on the lot, Pintos, Fairmonts and Granadas? The salesman must have been shaking his head at that deal. :)

I’m with you. No one in my family held onto any old cars...including me for that matter.
