I've been trying to find alternatives to the bashed up sheetmetal fenders on my '40 Plymouth sedan and have yet to find a reasonably priced pair of used or NOS fenders, and can't quite seem to find anyone making fibergl*** repro's...now before your collective ******* bunch up, let me say this...I'm building an mid 60's g***er, so fibergl*** fenders are totally an option...I'm more concerned with the rear fenders since my front ones are fixable, so if anyone has any leads on where to find '40-'41 and '46-'48 Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler rear fenders in either used, new or fibergl*** repro I'd be eternally grateful...I'm trying to stay under $150-$200 bucks for a pair if possible...
I don't know their pricing, but try the Plymouth Doctor:http://www.plymouthdoctor.com/index.html Lotsa hard to find Mopar sheet metal.
My old man finished the rebuild of his 40 Plymouth Coupe 25 years ago...NOS rear fenders were impossible to find then, esp the right rear.
my p***enger rear is trashed, caved in behind the wheel and ripped in about 3 places, each rip being a couple inches long...the drivers rear should be savable if I absolutely have to use it...the front fenders aren't TOO bad, they should be savable with some minor work...I'm mostly trying to find fibergl*** rear fenders if possible, and the '46-'48 rear fenders will bolt on if I can find some of those in fibergl***...
forget reasonable if you want anything in a 39-41 mopar rear fenders,(had a 38 and a 47) even 'gl*** is expensive, close to what a good used or NOS would go for , Plydo has em to '38 nothing later in 'gl***, but they sell gennie steel ,give him a call 304 475 3245, the best bet is to hit mopar sites or Hemmings ads and ask for fenders ,but don't tell them your a hot rodder!
I found quite a few fenders while I was in the Denver Greeley area last May. The prices were more than reasonalble. I gave $50 a piece for the rear fenders for our 47. I don't have the names of the yards handy but the one I got the best parts from was about 4 miles east of HIWAY 25 on the way to Greeley. Gumpa
