    In the absence of acrylic enamel reducer specifically designed for automotive paint, you can use lacquer thinner as a substitute. Lacquer thinner is commonly available and can effectively thin acrylic enamel paint for application on your car's gas tank. However, it's important to note that lacquer thinner may have different drying times and characteristics compared to the intended reducer. Therefore, it's advisable to test the mixture on a small inconspicuous area before applying it to the entire gas tank to ensure desired results.

    Hahaha, thanks for help but unfortunately it was back in 2021 when I posted this thread. Tank was sprayed in a single stage enamel & came out beautifully!

    Acetone I have used to thin enamel for farm equipment . Seems to work perfect to me , but I’m not a painter
