Real Factory Olds 88 convertible!! This car is just absolutely amazing!! It is 100% rust free. West coast car. No Rust, Ever! It was customized in the mid-fifties by an ex-military gentleman. He purchased it in 1955 when his military service ended and started customizing it in California, at that time. He painted it and had the interior done in 1957 in Washington. The builder is still alive. This is a very special and well documented car. It still has the customized interior from 1957 and it is really nice. No rust anywhere. The body, floors, trunk, inner door lips are all mint!! Very straight car. It now has an original 1949 Olds 303 motor with only about 60,000 miles. It was painted white in 1957, but is now black. Although it was repainted at some time, it still retains all the cool custom touches from the 1950s, including louvered hood, frenched headlights and taillights, shaved hood, trunk, and door handles. It has hidden door poppers that were done back in the day. There is so much more. The tasteful custom touches reflect the work that was done on the Hirohata Mercury. It has Real Appleton Spotlights, installed in the 1950's I have fender skirts that go with it. I have found the correct 4-two barrel set up that it ran in the 1950s and could be available. This is a real nice looking and driving car. You won’t be disappointed. The only reason that I am selling it is because I am too busy with my kids sports and don't have time to drive it. I am asking only $34,500 for quick sale. I am open to trades. I will trade, up, down or even. Call or text Mike at: two six two 994-3 six 86. Thank you, Mike
In today's world, imagine starting with a Very valuable and desirable car and making a custom out of it. Both, 88 & 98 model, 1949 Olds Convertibles are very desirable cars to start with. The 1949 Oldsmobiles are considered to be the first muscle cars/hot rods, because of their high powered 303 V8 engines. The 88 is the most valuable in the Hot Rod world because it is a little smaller and lighter than the 98. My dad drove & raced these early V8 Oldsmobiles in the 50's because they were the fastest thing around. This Olds 98 Convertible recently sold for $54,600: https://www.hemmings.com/auction/1949-oldsmobile-futuramic-88-torrance-ca-501693/sold Although, I would hate to see it happen, this car could be put back to stock and command a very high price.
I upgraded the convertible top hydraulic system with a pump from a 1957 Chevy and new custom-made high pressure hydraulic hoses.
Attached is the story that came with the car. It is because of these notes that I was able to track down the original builder of this car. He was in his late 80s when I talked to him a few years ago. Great guy and a great story!
This is really a cool car; I am just ready for something new. Sell outright or a Trade would be great. Trade up, down or even. What do you have?
