Thanks! Yeah this is all being done in my apartment garage and parking lot haha. Getting it all done here will definitely be an accomplishment, if I can swing it.
Approaching the 4th and a camping trip for me so I haven’t had as much time to work on the jalopy, but I made a little progress. Checked one of the camshafts I got from a guy, and it’s in pretty good shape, so I’ll probably send this one to Jim Brierley to grind. I also hooked up the choke rod and bolted up the coil to the firewall. Still waiting in my intake and Stromberg 81’s to come in the mail, they are expected on Monday. Will post pics when they arrive. Ended the day with a beer and reading my new copy of Jim Brierley’s book.
Check it out! My new (to me) original Zepher intake and original rebuilt Stromberg 81’s arrived today in the mail! Can’t wait to slap these bad boys on the banger. I also found the correct gauge panel for my 31 dash, now I just need gauges.
The hunt is on, this is a fun part of the journey & often a place where you make new friends. Keep it up that manifold/carb setup LQQKs KQQL
Exactly! Haha most definitely, I’ve already made some great acquaintances online and hope to make more. Thanks! Gonna paint my cylinder head red to match the red on the carbs, so I’ll be going with a red and black theme.
New parts seem to follow me home. Just picked up these super cool teardrop air cleaners from a local guy with an awesome fab shop. Super unique look.
Trying to think of a good name for my Model A jalopy. A friend suggested “Shitty Shitty Bang Bang”, which I thought was pretty fitting! Gonna try and do a little more wrenching today. Need to finishing wiring and make or buy some linkage for my new carb setup. Also gonna try to take off the stock intake and carb.
Wow! So you’re the guy that bought that body. Makes sense it would show up here. Congratulations! For the week or two before you bought it I was going around and round with seller. It was something I couldn’t deny the appeal of but really had no use for right now. We’d come to several ‘almost deals’ on it a few times. As we left it he was thinking over my last offer for a few days. When he finally messaged to say he was going to pass on my offer because he’d found a better offer (presumably you) I was actually very relieved. Really happy it went to someone with the energy and passion to get it built. Enjoy!
Yep that’s me! Thanks! Yeah it caught my eye right away, I was immediately drawn to the patina and door paint. Seems to fit this project perfectly, although I joke that the chassis is way too nice for the body haha.
