Anyone with an old General Kinetics catalog? I need the info (Adv dur, Dur at .020 or .050, lift, & LSA) for a GK cam for a 426 Hemi. Cam is marked '590' in the 12 o'clock position and 'GK' at the 4 o'clock position. No other markings anywhere else. Thought I'd ask here before breaking out the dial indicator & whiz wheel. Thanks in advance.
Well, it's been a slog but I finally have answers to the 'mystery cam'. Here are the specs: Int/Exh Dur @ .050: 279.4/280.4. With the advertised production rocker ratios of 1.57 int/1.52 exh & measured cam lobe lift of .389, Valve Lift is .611/.591. LSA - 104.5 (yikes!). What a beast of a cam! Certainly won't be going into any street machine I own. Of course regrinding is an option.
They say that big cubic inches can eat up some duration, but I'd better call the dentist for an appointment because this one will shake the fillings loose not to mention how much it will irritate the neighbors. Yep, good times ahead! BTW, 'sleeper that's a sweet lookin ride. After the Mopars, my favorites are the Tri-5 Chevys - a '55 is the ultimate for me.
