He travels with good folks like him, and has stopped by here, and parked for the night on his way back home.

Today, I got the rear section welded, and it pulled around a little, but a 5' bar tweaked it back in place. IMG_0312.JPG IMG_0314.JPG

    Marty --

I can't see where the chute is tethered to. Is that to the chassis under which you've built the extension?

    Jim,
The chute shroud connects to the 2" square tube on the bottom at the old hookup. IMG_0278.JPG IMG_0279.JPG IMG_0285.JPG

Back to Drag Racing, I found this on the net tonight. Taken at Fremont in 87, first time out after the restoration. I didn't have much for brakes, but the chute worked !

I got the Lakester finished this morning, and it is loaded up and gone. After a days cleaning up the shop I will resume on the 29 . IMG_0319.JPG IMG_0320.JPG IMG_0323.JPG IMG_0326.JPG

Last night I had a visitor in the shop, those bugs always fascinate me. Today I decided to finish the rear shock mounts, and bump stops. I have mentioned this before, about my preferred lower shock mounts from full size Fords, 1965-68 or so. The have a swoopy shape, and a nice offset to the rear. Mounting them on tapered early housings, always takes more time, but I am happy with the results. With the rear section complete, when I get the driveline back, the containment loops will be next. On some cars, I fab a mini cage for the driveline, we will see. IMG_0396.JPG IMG_0398.JPG IMG_0410.JPG IMG_0412.JPG IMG_0400.JPG IMG_0405.JPG IMG_0406.JPG IMG_0408.JPG IMG_0409.JPG

Marty, what brand are those shocks? The next project could use a minimally adjustable shock like that. And hopefully tomorrow the migraine will be gone, and I'll get to work on that front engine plate like you showed...

I’ve always liked those shock brackets too, the offset is real handy. I think I still have a pair in my Spring Pads and Shock Mounts box upstairs. I ended up with a few from cleaning up Ford housings for different projects.
Beautiful work on the lakester mods.

It took a while to get my driveline made, but it was worth the wait as I now have 1350 u joints on each end. With it in place it was time to fab and install the front driveline loop. I started with some 1/4' X 2" flat bar as that will meet the NHRA Specs, and connected the sides with 1" .120 wall tube. This is the process.
