My SBC has two threaded bolt holes in line that mount my starter the out bolt broke off. Do they make adapter that would bolt on and support a starter Ruben
If I'm thinking correctly, isn't that hole open on top? Worst case scenario, drill it out and run a long bolt with a nut on top?
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/DCK-10100 if you have a manual transmission, you can get a bellhousing that has mounting holes for it. We don't know what the engine is in, so we can only guess.
it's sort of common for the outer half of the hole to get broken off, and since the bolt hole needs to be in the right place and strong, it's not easy to fix the block, or rig something with a bolt/nut, that will actually work reliably.
I had the broken piece on a 230 straight 6 in one of my model A Ford's a few years back, made a bracket off the bellhousing bolt and rigged it up with a long bolt and nut it was still like that when I sold it. I guess I got lucky with the starter alignment!
Yes. Its an adaptor for putting a engine starter plate on an early 265 SBC when using a later transmission like a TH350. You need the 265 style starter to use it and 168 tooth flex plate. If its' just the bolt that broke off, seems like it would be easier to carefully use an e-z out and remove it. If you spent a bunch of money on a 400 block and now the corner of the block broke off, its just a few hundred more $.
If the block is broken, and unless you are an excellent fabricator: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/dck-10100 As has been mentioned, this will require a 168-tooth flywheel or flexplate, if you do not already have one, and uses the starter for the vehicle that it was originally intended for. After all this, you might be able to jut find another 400 block,
