Im hoping someone can identify this brake setup so i can more confidently take it apart and service it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Reaar Brake 1.jpg Rear Brake 2.jpg

There are only two bazillion different Ford pickup brake variants, so someone should have an answer for you very shortly.

Truthfully, I think it looks like an early F-1. But maybe you could get some measurements or maybe find a number on one of the components?

With a 5 x 5.5 bolt pattern the best guess is F-1 pickup or '49-'51 Mercury.

    i think its 49-55 ford f100
the axle shaft centre is the give away
as its a dana 41 shaft
also the rear bearing housing is dana
    the brakes should be
    11 by 1 3/4''
so you can add the self adjusters to them while you are at it.......

you can do whats been done as an f100 rear axle is 61 .25 inch long
i think they have chopped the tube off and fitted it to a banjo.
there being enough meat after the splines to respline

the axle i had also had them there little slits in them - they are not debris ejectors, but feeler guage insertion slits to gauge the shoe wear

as stock they don't have self adjusting cables.
you can also tell they have not been converted to self adjustment as there would be two slits where the rubber insert goes to fit the flat screw driver to adjust.

its nothing to do with i don't' need self adjusters, i will adjust them my self
its about them both being perfectly adjusted to balance them side to side with wear , do you havn't manual adjusted them incorrectly and the car dive left or right under braking

    if you like.....
the give away of it being dana 41 is
the bolts that hold the backing plate come from the rear, they have a knurled shaft much like a wheel stud and are pressed in - unlike the later ford t - bolt style
if doing the bearings they are 3 . 125 - same as big bearing ford 9''

the other way to gauge it is,
if you are running f1 front brakes at 11 by 2''
then the person that built that car really knew what he was doing as you have the perfect one to .75 front to rear brake bias - like the factory setting.
why you wouldnt go to all that trouble and not fit the self adjusters though?
