New at this car thing, jacked up my 1964 Chrysler New Yorker at the wrong spots, just behind the wheel for the front, and just in front of the wheel on the rear (so I could put them on wheel dollies ). Now to be fair, there appears to be a partial frame in each of those spots. And, I actually thought, those earlier cars would be framed, not unibody. Newbie mistake. I don’t see any obvious issues , like broken welds, windows, floor pans pushed up, etc. even the doors and openings seem the same as before. Any thoughts on this? Did I just make a colossal mistake and all my hard work fixing her up of the past two years is for naught?
That’s it , your effected the structural integrity of the welds on the inner structure of the unibody and pulled the floor supports away from the windshield mounts , causing the accelerator pedal to bind when opening the truck , which in turn will cause bad radio reception . If all looks good , no kinks , bends , cracks all doors open and close your fine . Mechanics to this day are lifting unibody car incorrectly and smushing and denting small spots with no Ill effevt .
Thanks for the funny reply, I suppose after many many hours of fixing her up, last thing I would need is to ruin her from one dumb mistake. thanks again!
All my toys are Unibody Mopars. I jack them in the exact same spots since 1971. Those are called frame rails, even though they are welded in place. I have never distorted anything. Vinny
