Yesterday morning I got a call from Larry (KustomChief). "Yo, I'm goin to Jersey to lower Vinnie's Olds. Wanna Come?" How do you reply to that but "Hell yes!" (Sorry in advance for the poor photo quality... my phone was all we had available. Still, not too shabby for a phone!) BEFORE: The stock 4x4 look.... AFTER: Three inch lowering blocks in the rear, plus 1 3/4 coils off the front. (Vinnie said two, Larry said one and a half, so I split the difference!) Ahh, much better! The smile on Vinnie's face was priceless! Larry Posing with the Olds: While Larry and I were lowering the Olds, Vinnie was fabbing up a new battery box for Larry's '54 Poncho: It was really a kick *** day. We got the whole thing done, start to finish, in about 4 and a half hours. No major problems... no stuck bolts, broken parts, or anything. Can't ask for more than that. Plus, the results speak for themselves.
That was a great time. The car looks right finally. I hated selling the thing but at least I still get to play with the car and I know I will get first shot when he never sells it. Pretty easy job and I got a kick *** battery tray to show for it. Larry
Thanks. I was pretty upset I sold it....but at least I still get to see it. It is a blast to drive and I have some play money to make something else happen.... Larry
I sold my 59 at the Greaseball last year and i'm still kickin' myself. I'll also have some extra $$ for a toy if I can ever sell my house!
Yeah, I forgot to mention, we also took two leaves out of the back as well. Elky I cant believe you sold that 59. That thing was BAD. I dug it!
It's a LG VX8500 (aka Chocolate). Takes decent pics and looks good doing it. It's like having a puppy with you... all the girlies wanna stop you and check it out! (Its amazing the reaction you get over a stupid phone... at least for the next week and a half till everyone has one.)
damn, next time you're coming to Jersey to do free work on a car give me a call, there's always something here that needs to be done
The Olds is an automatic. I know where there is a stick car for a conversion but it runs and drives so nice anyway. It is a great car and perfect for someone to do something cool with. Not one piece of rot on the floor or inner rockers....perfect. Larry
Thanks man. I didn't want to sell it, but had to at that particular time The good thing is that we wrote up contract that states I have first dibs on it if the new owner ever decides to sell it.
I was all backed up against the wall just trying to get it in frame! Needed all the room I could get. Just consider it stylized cropping.
