High, I did start with "High, I hope you are just teasing, and talking trash." and included the final form of one, just like a Willys, all it takes is a hemi! No hard feelings here. Heck, those first pics of my alt mount make me sad because I did the aerosol overhaul to that engine a few years back and look at it now. Bill, heck of a nice shop. Glad I helped, if it did help. Revive the wiring so it doesn't let all the smoke out, and get the brakes stoppin'! Don't toss those old Jackman wheels. They are sought after by guys that want to build 70's stuff.
after all is said and done . i wish when i was building my 41 i would have took the plunge and had a v-8 . but keep it simple was my plan . but like you said .aint a big investment in rattle can rebuilds . so if i come across a realistic priced v-8 parts van , who knows . i enjoy cussing , swearing , throwing shit , and having a excuse to have a drink at five . so a 360 just might happen . shit im running late today . 5.30......
I love the slant 6, A100 truck. Not sure I would have done that, I spent most of my high school days swapping out every slant 6 I could with a V8. I trashed a lot of slant 6 motors back in those days. But I have a 6 cylinder in my coupe that has been there for the last 13 or so years and I love it. My coupe is supposed to be a race car! I've discovered that a car or truck can still be fun, even if it isn't as fast as it might be. My latest hot rod does have a V8 though.
The local Auto Zone or O’Reillys used to have a machine to bench test starters and alternators. That might be easier than installing it only to find it’s NFG.
i was just being a dumbass . comes natural i guess . im pretty sure the alt. is toast .been sitting in the bed out side for yrs. .today i getta try making the brakes function . looks like removing the master is a bit of a job . i get to remove the airdam to gain access . might re=install the pass door as well . took the wife for a couple loops around the house yesterday , but she wants a door AND seat next time . happy wife , happy life !
Hey y'all, for the record I wasn't bashing or offended. I get the logic 100%. However, too much logic gets in the way of fun. Like booze or religion, moderation... I like these better than the Econolines, but I like Econoline vans better. Dad had an Eco pickup, construction yellow with a black spray-on vinyl top. Anyone remember thay stuff? Kooky...
They each have their good points. Dodge was built a bit tougher, has the removable doghouse that fits both the 6 and 8. I like the door going back at the top so you don't clunk your head in the jamb. Looks more 'swept back' Ford was first, the lightest, like the body line where it goes forward at the top of the door (so long as I don't clunk). Window line is more 'rakish'. Chevy has the cute early and later low grills to choose from. Had the most powerful 6 and 8. The early still had a flat windshield. Chevy did the Corvair PUs, but I don't remember any van-ups with front engines.
i feel stupid . alot . but to make a short story long . i never new , or never realized , or cared ? that the big threes vans p/u s where unibody . i had one of each , econoline ,a100 van , and g whatever cheby . i guess i was paying more attention to the young girls .and getting them in the back .it was ok , then . go figure ! i think my chevy burned rubber pretty good ,with a over worn 283 . didnt take long to finish it of . dodge got 2nd gear rubber . didnt last long ! ford wouldnt spin . my least favorite . but i think i didnt blow it up . for the record ,they were all junk before first contact .when your 17 . who cares about unibody !
i did have the brakes working . kinda . .master is working ,but one or more wheel cylinders are leaking . i called orely . the parts profe. saide they have no listing for wheel cyl. rebuild kits . so i guess i need to ask someone else . just been busy tying up some of the loose ends .or bailing wireing them . ive got something running the battery dead when its turned off , im nut sure where to start looking . im thinking the voltage reg. . just a wild guess . but either way , running pretty good . i need to pull the tank ,and see if it can be saved to . cant bottle feed it forever . im thinking lacquer thinner might disolve any varnish in it . i came so close to destroying the mtr. in my 41 .when the 40 yr old varnish stuck my valves . sure dont want to take that road again .
Per Rock auto Front 1.125 bore Dorman 13620 $2.34 Rear 13/16 bore Dorman 33171 $2.45 Watch out for the replacement sending units out now. The seal is smaller, and the sender is almost universally off by a bunch. There should be a little 'jumper' metal strap that connects the sending unit fuel line to the fuel line on the body over the rubber hose between the two for grounding. This is important for the gauge to work and is often missing. Don't lose it if it's there. You can see it the pic at this site https://www.forbbodiesonly.com/mopa...k-sending-unit-fuel-gauge-ground-strap.70659/ Battery drain is same as any car, DVOM between the pos post and cable with them disconnected. Start disconnecting stuff until the voltage drops. The regulator is electromechanical, like a relay, so you can try tapping it. Or take the cover off and make sure the points aren't sticking. This was the best overview of the regulator I could find in a short time. https://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/threads/electronic-voltage-regulator-conversion.6979/
whats up .yeah , been plugging at it .aint like i could order body panels , not , so been building it . the rust was worse than i th ought originally .so replacing a 5 ft. section . but . been sidelined this wk.. couldnt say no . needed a parts car . but it run s so good im not sure i can part it .s6 3 spd. as weell . but more rust than id like to deal with . we ll see . hows things down your way ?
careful, that's how I started. up to 6 now... plus the Bs. That 108 on the bottom line of 4 is the one that ended up yellow. Most were/are parts vehicles, cheaper than a HD shed. Be very careful with the reverse lights and side markers. Rare stuff. Had a line on a car, turned out to be a scam. Tried to sell off a camper, first person out didn't bite. Fixed the roommate's daily. Blah, blah, blah
Depends on what you want to do. Color match existing faded paint or restore. No currently available paint is going to be the same stuff. It is going to match your old stuff or a sample.
i guess ill take the panel off the interior door and have it matched. like you said , and my pix show , the paint aint what it was . i just want to make some spot repairs .and get as close as i can to the rest of the trk.. not looking for 100 point restoration . just decent a driver !
