I'm selling my 1954 Pontiac Chieftain Deluxe -- a sentimental car to me, and hopefully there's a buyer here who will fall in love with her too. I got it as an original car in 2010, worked little by little to make a mild custom out of it. It was always driven frequently, even did 2 years as a true daily driver. With recent personal changes I haven't got the time for the car and the hobby anymore.

The car starts right up, runs and drives. With new tires you can pass inspection and have fun this season! This car comes with extra parts, and some good documentation on changes that were made.

Scroll down for more photos, more info on its condition and customizations -- then contact me and we can talk in detail.

    Customizations:
    • 1955 Pontiac 287 "Strato Streak" V8, 2bbl carb. Valve job in 2016. Fresh water pump, mechanical fan with shroud, runs cool
    • Transmission is a 3spd floor shift, 1956 Pontiac gears in a modified 1938 Buick trans case -- it's a floor shift!!
      Transmission build thread: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...sion-1956-pontiac-gears-tail-housing.1095970/
    • Transmission tunnel professionally fabricated with a removable cover for transmission service
    • Custom-made mechanical clutch linkage uses factory clutch pedal
    • Lowered 3" -- cut coils in front, drop blocks in rear
    • Two-piece driveshaft with hanger bearing
    • Rear axle was re-geared to 3.64
    • Front wheel bearings converted to tapered rollers with Classic Performance Products kit (very easy to set proper free-play)
    • 12V converted with a Rebel wire harness, 1959 Oldsmobile 35amp generator, battery in trunk
    • Paint: gold metal-flake roof, white pinstriped dashboard
    Notes on condition:
    • Yes, the Indian head lights up.
    • The body is still basically unmodified except for trans tunnel.
    • Some rust in the trunk, but otherwise super super solid for a NY car.
    • This spent its first life as a grandma's car in NYC -- it has dents and dings.
      • Both front fenders have been hit and have some rust behind the grille. Comes with four front fenders! One pair 1954 fenders with some rust. One pair with no rust, mixed 1953/1954, blasted and primed.
      • The right rear door has messy, complex damage. Comes with a nice straight rust-free right rear door.
    • The car starts up great, runs and drives. The battery is 7 years old and could be replaced.
    • Cylinder 1 only, the two rocker studs do not oil. It's not a pressure problem. Long-term fix is to pull this head and have the studs re-done at a machine shop --- short-term fix is to pour oil on them every week you drive it.
Comes with the fender skirts you see in some of the photos.
Comes with some extra parts: trim, new Porter mufflers, door & fenders ...
Also comes with a ton of cool old paperwork. Original dealer invoice, old registrations and driver's licenses.
