    Alan Bockla early days:

    Hello,
My brother and I have seen plenty of T roadsters since our early beginnings at Lion’s Dragstrip. They were almost as popular as the full bodied roadsters in almost every class. These early photographs by Pete Garramone, gave me some tempting art drawings. The T body is difficult to draw. The color photos gave me a different idea of how flames could be added to a cool design.

Alan Bockla T Roadster By 1960, he was driving a Chevy-powered T-Roadster at local drag strips.
upload_2023-7-21_5-5-17.png a two color scallop design with similar colors, but just enough to stay different…

“Here is one of my shots of Alan Bockla's roadster. He bought it from a good friend of mine who ran it with a flathead at the 1956 race in Great Bend, Kansas. Alan's parents owned and operated F&M Auto (Ford & Mercury) for a bunch of years in the early '50s. Great people. I'm not sure why Bockla picked a small block for the car. He went on to run several fuel dragsters…”

Greetings to all on this "FAS" Friday.
There was a time period in this country, when car and truck manufacturers, were not afraid to make some incredible, high quality chrome grilles.
I have always been fascinated, with the intended personality of the faces of trucks and cars, reflected in chrome.
So this weeks offering is a few of my favorite grilles.
To me they will always be works of art !

  6. So, I got this one buttoned down this morning as well.

@unnamed moderator, As I was drawing a certain feature of this, I had a discusion with my wife about a conversation I'd had with said moderator..
As such, I decided a cutesy Hawaiian inspired cocktail dress would be appropriate...

"53 Chieftain Custom" with a bit of Roadmaster tossed into the mix, so to speak..
