I have been looking for some lifters, for a dodge roller motor with LA heads. I have a set of lifters coming, just not sure they will be here on time. I have been looking but cannot find the answer, does 1st gen hemi roller lifters fir into a dodge magnum block? I could get them cheaper and sooner if they fit. I have a set of Black Mamba bushed set on order now.

    Thanks Tony

If they are the type with the connector bar the bar is too long, ***uming spacing is the same on LA & Magnum blocks.

I've never been into a Magnum LA block, but on the 70s & 80s versions, the pushrods intersect the lifters at an angle. It was even more severe with the TA and W2 heads. As such, the roller lifters I had in my 340 "Back in the Day" had the tie bar next to the valley wall, and the side toward the center of the block had the lifter body cut away for pushrod clearance. The other thing was the roller cam ATE the cam thrust plate. I reckon Chrysler's machining accuracy wasn't all that when it came to lifter bore alignment relative to the cam bore. The rollers screwed the cam right out of the block. It ate the thrust plate within 20 runs at the track.
At any rate, check the push-rods for interference with the top of the lifter body.

Are you looking for the Magnum lifters? or an aftermarket? The tie bar on the Magnum lifters does not allow for use in a Chrysler but, IIRC, it is close in a DeSoto. The revere should also apply depending on the manufacturer and the style of tie bar. You might check with Gaterman Products in Florida.

Gaterman hydraulic rollers is what Dad and I just installed in our Hemi. I cant give any real opinion as we just got the engine running. On there web page there is mention of LA engines on installation instructions, but no lifters listed other then B/RB mopars. Maybe a phone call can get you better info.
